What does gastrointestinal stagnation mean?

What does gastrointestinal stagnation mean?

Many people do not know what gastrointestinal stagnation means. Gastrointestinal stagnation means that the food we did not eat is not digested and absorbed normally by the body, but accumulates in the gastrointestinal tract. When gastrointestinal stagnation occurs, it will cause indigestion in patients. At the same time, patients also feel bloating and vomiting. If a child suffers from gastrointestinal stagnation, parents should take the child to the hospital for treatment.

Symptoms of gastrointestinal stagnation

1. No appetite for milk or food, abdominal distension and pain, sour and smelly vomit, loose stools with a smelly taste like rotten eggs.

2. Irritability, crying at night or having fever etc.

3. Have a history of breast or food damage. Stool examination shows undigested food residues or fat globules. Children who do not control their milk and food intake, or are fed improperly, eat too much milk and food, or eat too much fatty, raw, cold, and indigestible food can damage the spleen and stomach. The stomach is responsible for receiving and is the sea of food and water; the spleen is responsible for transportation and transformation and is the source of Qi and blood. If the spleen and stomach are injured, their functions of receiving, transporting and transforming are impaired, the ascending and descending order is disrupted, milk and food stagnate, and they accumulate and cannot be digested, thus causing stagnation. Physical weakness and weak spleen and stomach after illness can also lead to indigestion of milk and food, which can cause illness.

4. Stagnation is closely related to food poisoning and malnutrition. If the damage caused by milk and food is not digested for a long time, it may turn into accumulation. If the accumulation is not digested for a long time, it will cause heat and consume body fluid, which can turn into malnutrition. Therefore, there is a saying that "accumulation is the mother of malnutrition" and "malnutrition will not occur without accumulation".
