Jizhi Syrup is our most common medicine for treating cough. Its prescription and preparation method are specially developed according to ancient recipes, so it is very trustworthy and has many effects. It can not only be used to treat cough and phlegm caused by colds, but also has a good effect on treating acute bronchitis and can clear the lungs.

1. Prescription

Houttuynia cordata, golden buckwheat, evergreen, ephedra, aster, peucedanum, fructus aurantii, licorice

2. Preparation method

Add water to distill the above eight herbs, Houttuynia cordata and Fructus Aurantii Immaturus, and collect the distillate; boil the residue and the other six herbs including Fagopyrum scabra twice with water, filter, combine the filtrate, and concentrate to an appropriate amount; take an appropriate amount of sucrose, add water to boil, filter, combine with the above distillate and concentrate, add an appropriate amount of stevioside and preservatives, add water to the specified amount, mix well, and package.

3. Properties

This product is a brown-black viscous liquid; it tastes sweet and slightly bitter.

Content determination

Determined by high performance liquid chromatography. Chromatographic conditions and system suitability tests used octadecylsilane bonded silica gel as filler; methanol-1% acetic acid solution (40:60) as mobile phase; and the detection wavelength was 283 nm. The number of theoretical plates calculated based on the naringin peak should not be less than 3000. Preparation of reference solution: Take an appropriate amount of naringin reference substance dried to constant weight at 110°C, accurately weigh it, and add formic acid to prepare a solution containing 80 μg per 1 ml. Preparation of test solution: Accurately measure 10 ml of the product, place it in a 50 ml volumetric flask, add dilute ethanol to the scale, shake well, centrifuge (4000 rpm) for 10 minutes, take the supernatant, filter it with a microporous filter membrane (0.45 μm), and take the filtrate. Determination method: Accurately pipette 10μl of reference solution and test solution respectively, inject into liquid chromatograph, and determine. This product contains not less than 0.020% of Citrus aurantium calculated as naringin (C27H32O14·2H2O).

4. Function and indications

Clears away heat and resolves phlegm, promotes lung function and relieves cough. Used to treat acute bronchitis, cough after a cold, with symptoms of fever, chills, chest fullness, cough and sore throat; acute bronchitis and acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis with the above symptoms.
