Is thyroid cancer lymph node metastasis serious?

Thyroid lymphoma is a relatively common disease. In recent years, the incidence of thyroid cancer can be said to be very high. This is a highly prevalent malignant tumor, accounting for about 1% to 2% of all malignant tumors in the body. It is especially common in women. It is divided into papilloma, follicular carcinoma, etc. The chance of metastasis is very high. The most common is the metastasis of papillary thyroid carcinoma through the cervical lymph nodes, while follicular carcinoma lymph node metastasis is relatively rare.

Thyroid cancer types can be classified as:

There are four major types: papillary carcinoma, follicular carcinoma, medullary carcinoma, and poorly differentiated carcinoma. If the patient does not receive timely treatment, the chance of thyroid cancer metastasis is very high.

Is thyroid lymph node metastasis serious?

1. The most common type of papillary thyroid carcinoma mainly metastasizes to the cervical lymph nodes, and hematogenous metastasis is rare. The disease has a long course and good prognosis after surgical treatment. It is a well-differentiated thyroid cancer. 2. Follicular carcinoma rarely metastasizes to the lymph nodes, but relatively more often metastasizes to the blood. The disease generally has a long course and good recovery after surgical treatment. It is a well-differentiated thyroid cancer. 3. Medullary carcinoma is rare, but cervical lymph node metastasis may usually occur. 4. Poorly differentiated cancer is extremely rare, but highly malignant and often metastasizes to lymph nodes and blood. Death usually results from local lesions, accounting for 80% to 86% of all thyroid deaths.

5. Symptoms of local metastasis: In the late stage of local metastasis of thyroid cancer, hard and fixed lymph nodes often appear in the neck. Clinically, papillary carcinoma and medullary carcinoma are more likely to have metastasis and enlarged lymph nodes in the neck. 6. Local compression symptoms: If the thyroid tumor continues to swell, it may compress the recurrent laryngeal nerve, causing the patient to experience hoarseness, invade the esophagus, cause dysphagia and weight loss, and invade or compress the trachea, causing dyspnea, hemoptysis and chest discomfort. Pain caused by fracture, numbness or weakness in the hands and feet caused by spinal cord metastasis, etc.
