There are certain differences between varicose veins and vasculitis, but they are also closely related. They are like hands and feet. Varicose veins are a common disease of the venous system, while vasculitis belongs to a disease of the arterial system. Varicose veins often occur in the lower limbs, especially great saphenous veins, which are the most common. They often lead to ulcers in the lower limbs, while phlebitis often occurs in the anterior and posterior diameters of the lower legs, which can easily accumulate in the femoral artery, causing great harm. The difference between varicose veins and vasculitis 1. Varicose veins (commonly known as floating tendons) It is the most common disease of the venous system. The main cause is that blood accumulates in the lower limbs due to maintaining the same posture for a long time with little change. Over time, the venous valves are damaged and the venous pressure is too high, causing varicose veins. Varicose veins often occur in the lower limbs. Red or blue, twisted blood vessels that look like spider webs or earthworms, or hard nodules that look like tree tumors appear on the skin of the legs. The veins become abnormally enlarged, swollen, and varicose. 2. Pathogenesis of varicose veins: Varicose veins of the lower limbs refers to a disease in which blood flow is obstructed in the venous system of the lower limbs, the vascular pressure in the veins increases, the superficial veins gradually expand and elongate, and due to the restriction of the surrounding tissues, they become tortuous and clump like earthworms, and the thinnest parts of the veins expand in a cystic shape. 3. The full name of vasculitis is "thromboangiitis obliterans" It is an allergic inflammation occurring in blood vessels, leading to segmental stenosis and occlusion of small and medium-sized arteries, loss of nutrition in the extremities, ulcers, and necrosis. It is a more stubborn vascular disease, not an inflammatory manifestation of the blood vessel wall itself, and has nothing to do with bacterial infection. 4. Causes of vasculitis : Weak venous walls and valve defects The venous walls are relatively weak and can expand under the action of venous pressure. The expansion of the valvular sinuses causes the original venous valves to be unable to close tightly, resulting in relative valve insufficiency and blood reflux. If the valve is poorly developed or missing, it will not be able to effectively prevent backflow and lead to disease. Varicose veins are the most common vascular disease of the venous system. The main reason for their formation is that patients maintain the same posture for a long time and rarely change, causing blood to flow back to the lower limbs and causing reflux obstruction. Over time, the venous valves are damaged, causing the superficial veins to dilate and produce varicose veins. Vasculitis is a disease of the arterial system. The main cause is long-term and heavy smoking. The nicotine in the smoke can cause severe blood vessel contraction and vasospasm, leading to ischemia of the affected limb. This disease often occurs in young and middle-aged men. The cause of the disease is closely related to the secretion of androgen. |
