The efficacy of drinking water soaked with rabbit silk

Cuscuta australis is a traditional Chinese medicine that has a very good effect of nourishing the liver and kidneys, and filling the marrow with essence. It has a very good effect on soreness of the waist and knees, dizziness, tinnitus, and irritability caused by liver and kidney yin deficiency. In addition, Cuscuta australis also has a good effect on preserving pregnancy and treating diarrhea. As a traditional Chinese medicine, Cuscuta seeds can also be used to make tea, which also has good health-care effects. So what are the effects of drinking Cuscuta seeds soaked in water?

Cuscuta is a parasitic plant with a special physiological structure. There are no chloroplasts in its cells, and it uses a vine-like structure to cling to other plants. Cuscuta can be used to make salt dodder. What are the effects and functions of salt dodder?

1. Aphrodisiac effect

Experiments have shown that dodder can enhance the sexual vitality of fruit flies and significantly increase their mating rate. The strength of its effect is positively correlated with the dosage concentration. Gavage of a decoction of Cuscuta australis to "yang-deficiency" mice can significantly increase their body weight, kidney weight, thymus weight, white blood cell count, red blood cell count, hemoglobin and superoxide dismutase activity; gavage of a decoction to male mice can significantly prolong their swimming time and survival time under hypoxic conditions, and also enhance the nonspecific resistance of mice.

2. Effects on endocrine

It has been reported that oral administration of Cuscuta australis aqueous extract to female rats can increase the weight of the anterior pituitary, ovaries and uterus, but has no effect on the level of luteinizing hormone (LH) in plasma; it increases the number of HCG/LH receptors in the rat ovaries, while the Ka value is reduced compared with the control group. Oral administration of Cuscuta australis aqueous extract to ovariectomized rats can enhance the LH secretion response of the pituitary gland in ovariectomized anesthetized rats to the injection of luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LRH). The plasma LH level reached the highest level 90 minutes after injection, which can be increased by 241.58%. Therefore, the reporter believes that silk seeds can increase the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian luteinizing function, and this effect is not due to their direct stimulation of the secretion of pituitary luteinizing hormone, but due to increased pituitary responsiveness to LRH and ovarian responsiveness to LH.

3. Effects on heart rate and blood pressure

Cuscuta soy sauce (made from Cuscuta and bean cake), infusion, and tincture can enhance the contractility of the isolated toad heart. The former can increase the heart rate, while the latter two can reduce it. The infusion given intravenously to anesthetized dogs has the effect of lowering blood pressure.

4. Delaying the formation of cataracts

Studies have shown that oral administration of Cuscuta australis aqueous extract to rats has a delayed effect on cataract formation in rats induced by galactose, with the percentage of transparent lenses reaching 33.3%. Its mechanism of action is that Cuscuta can reduce the activity of aldose reductase in rats with cataracts caused by galactose, enhance the activities of polyol dehydrogenase, hexokinase and 6-phosphate glucose dehydrogenase, and inhibit and correct the abnormal changes of enzymes in the lens of rats with cataracts.

5. Other functions

Giving 1g/kg of the water extract of the whole plant of Cuscuta to mice can significantly reduce the excitability and convulsions caused by electrical stimulation of mice, and can enhance the anesthetic effect of phenobarbital on mice under hypoxic conditions and prolong their survival time. The extract can antagonize the excitatory effects caused by amphetamine and show obvious analgesic activity.
