What to eat when you have liver problems

When people have a bad liver, there will be some symptoms, the first of which will be manifested in appetite. Most people will be disgusted with greasy food, feel nauseous, and vomit. They often have no interest in food, do not want to eat anything they see, feel weak, feel uncomfortable in the liver area, feel abdominal pain and bloating for a long time, and need to eat more light foods, mainly soups and water.

What are the symptoms of a bad liver?

1. Poor appetite, aversion to greasy food, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, etc. This is because the liver is the largest digestive gland in the human body. Everything we eat must be metabolized and detoxified in the liver. Abnormal digestive function will lead to symptoms such as loss of appetite, aversion to greasy food, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation.

2. Fatigue and easy fatigue are also common symptoms of poor liver. This is because when liver cells are attacked by harmful substances such as viruses, fats, alcohol, and drugs, it will cause liver cell degeneration and necrosis, increase enzymes such as alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase in the serum, and decrease cholesterol esterase, causing patients to experience symptoms such as fatigue and easy fatigue. Among the various symptoms of poor liver function, damage to liver cells is the main cause of various symptoms.

3. Discomfort and dull pain in the liver area. The liver is mainly located in the right hypochondrium and epigastric area, above the stomach. Some people feel discomfort in the right upper abdomen, which is actually discomfort in the liver area. Due to its close proximity to the stomach, many people treat liver pain as stomach pain, which delays the treatment of liver disease.

4. Jaundice (yellow eyes, yellow urine, and yellow skin) is also one of the symptoms of poor liver function. When the liver is not functioning well, abnormal bilirubin metabolism can cause jaundice. The main symptoms are yellowing of tissues such as the skin and sclera. When jaundice deepens, urine, sputum, tears, and sweat also turn yellow, but saliva generally does not change color.

5. Rough skin, night blindness, inflammation of the lips and tongue, edema, skin bleeding, osteoporosis. One of the functions of the liver is to metabolize vitamins. Abnormal vitamin metabolism and deficiency of various vitamins can lead to rough skin, night blindness, inflammation of the lips and tongue, edema, skin bleeding, osteoporosis, etc., which are also symptoms of poor liver.

6. Bleeding gums, nose bleeding, slow hemostasis, blue or purple bruises. Poor liver function can cause abnormal synthesis of coagulation factors, which can lead to bleeding tendencies such as bleeding gums and nosebleeds, and the bleeding will stop more slowly than normal people. Some patients may also develop unexplained blue or purple bruises on their bodies.

7. Insomnia and nightmares. Insomnia and frequent dreams are symptoms of poor liver function. Liver qi depression, kidney yin deficiency, liver fire ascending, and qi and blood deficiency can all cause insomnia and frequent dreams. In severe cases, neurasthenia may occur. Patients with chronic liver disease, especially those with chronic hepatitis B, suffer from long-term torture of liver disease, heavy mental burden and mental depression, which may also cause insomnia and nightmares.
