What are the symptoms of vitiligo?

The most obvious symptom of vitiligo patients is the appearance of white spots on the skin, that is, the skin color becomes white. The white areas vary in shape and size, and the area will gradually spread as the disease progresses, so it must be treated as soon as possible.

1. Halo nevus leukoplakia

Halo nevus, also known as centrifugal acquired leukoplakia, also refers to the localized hypopigmentation surrounding a pigmented nevus. The nevus itself may fade later while the skin lesions continue to develop. Common in halo nevus

After the central nevus disappears, its white halo expands, and then new white spots appear on other parts of the body. Most scholars believe that halo nevus is a type of vitiligo and should be given sufficient attention.

2. Early stage white spots have a mild degree of depigmentation

The boundary with the surrounding normal skin is blurred. If it occurs in people with fair skin, it is easy to be ignored, but its "special" features should be observed in detail: there is usually no itching, or even if there is it, it is very mild; the number of depigmented spots is small, usually 1 to 2, and most of them appear on exposed skin; except for depigmentation, the skin at the depigmented spots is the same as the surrounding skin, without inflammation, desquamation or atrophy; when there are no other skin diseases, early vitiligo should be considered first.

3. Characteristics of skin lesions

The skin lesions turn white. Typical white spots are the size of fingernails and coins. They are round, oval or irregular in shape. They can expand or merge into large irregular patches with different shapes.

The darkened pigment bands and white spots have island-like pigment spots in the center. Another typical white spot is a band-like or cord-like depigmented spot distributed along the nerves, with the edges of the spot as neat as a knife cut.
