What is the best ointment for vulvar leukoplakia

The vulva is an organ belonging to the female, located in the female lower body, but the vulva will often have some problems. Most of these problems are skin diseases, and they are all caused by various reasons. Among them is vulvar leukoplakia. Vulvar leukoplakia is a condition in which white spots appear on the vulva. It can be treated with some ointments. So what ointment is best for vulvar leukoplakia?

Vulvar leukoplakia, formally known clinically as vulvar dystrophy or vulvar precancerous lesions, is a disease caused by cell damage. Since more than 80% of patients will experience varying degrees of whitening or graying of the vulvar skin, we commonly call it: vulvar leukoplakia.

Due to cell pathology, nutrients cannot be absorbed from the body, resulting in a decrease in the patient's body resistance and recovery ability. Years of illness have led to the occurrence of various gynecological diseases in patients, such as hardening, roughness, itching, ulcers, and cracks on the skin surface. Severe patients also suffer from vulvar atrophy or hyperplasia.

Commonly used drugs for vulvar lichen sclerosus include pyruvic acid ointment, compound vitamin A ointment and progesterone ointment. Alternatively, glucocorticoid ointments or immunotherapy may be used. Drugs can improve symptoms but cannot cure the disease, and long-term use is required. Lichen sclerosus in young girls may heal on its own by puberty, and pyruvate ointment is generally not used for treatment to avoid virilization. 1% hydrocortisone ointment or 0.3% progesterone ointment can be applied, which can relieve most symptoms, but long-term follow-up is required.

Vulvar squamous hyperplasia can be treated with topical corticosteroids to control pruritus. Treatment is effective for most patients, but long-term medication is required.

Physical therapy is suitable for those who are not responsive to drug treatment or whose condition is severe. Microwave therapy, carbon dioxide laser and helium-neon laser, Bohm light, high-frequency electric knife, local electrocautery therapy and liquid nitrogen local cryotherapy, etc.

Be careful to keep the vulva clean and dry, and avoid irritating drugs and foods. Treat itching symptomatically, and provide sedatives, hypnotics and anti-allergic drugs. Medical, physical, and surgical treatments are used as appropriate.
