Our common periosteal injury disease is what we often call problems with the meniscus on the knee. Generally speaking, periosteum injury will cause difficulty in walking for the patient, and in severe cases, the knee will also experience pain. Many people in life do not know what the symptoms of periosteal injury are, so many times after getting sick, they think it will get better after a while, which is wrong. Periosteal injury generally refers to stress injury caused by dilation, congestion, edema or subperiosteal hemorrhage of the periosteum and periosteal blood vessels, hematoma organization, periosteal hyperplasia and inflammatory changes, or infectious injury caused by invasion of purulent bacteria. The symptoms include local swelling, pain, ecchymosis, limited limb movement, etc., congestion and swelling in the periosteum, blocked meridians, and stagnation of qi and blood. Plasters can be applied externally to relax muscles and activate blood circulation, reduce swelling and relieve pain, activate blood circulation and disperse blood stasis, dispel wind and cold, and transmit the disease through the skin to the meridians, tendons and bones, stimulating the body's regulatory function, which can quickly eliminate swelling and pain, promote functional recovery and quickly achieve the purpose of healing. The periosteum is stimulated, and the osteoblasts under the periosteum proliferate to produce new trabeculae. Many diseases can cause periosteal reactions, and different lesions can produce different periosteal reactions. For example, acute suppurative osteomyelitis, bone tumors, bone tuberculosis, fractures, osteoblastic and osteolytic osteosarcoma, Ewing's tumor, etc. can all produce periosteal reaction. Generally, the fibrous layer of the outer layer of the periosteum is transformed from the surrounding soft tissues such as fascia, fat, and muscle. The fibroblasts in the fibrous layer are transformed into osteoblasts through enlargement of the cell nucleus and increase of cytoplasm. Differential Diagnosis Periosteal reaction needs to be differentiated from the following symptoms: 1. Diffuse periosteal thickening Pachydermoperiostosis is divided into primary and secondary types. The primary form is autosomal dominant. Secondary disease is often triggered by liver, lung, digestive tract diseases or malignant tumors. This disease is more common in males. 2. Periostitis Periostitis is caused by the expansion, congestion and edema of the periosteum and periosteal blood vessels, or subperiosteal hemorrhage, hematoma organization, periosteal hyperplasia and inflammation, which causes stress periosteum injury, or infection caused by purulent bacterial invasion. |
