How to treat ear periostitis

How to treat ear periostitis

Ear periostitis generally refers to some inflammation of our auricle cartilage. The treatment methods for auricular perichondritis are different depending on the cause. However, compared with traditional Chinese medicine treatment of auricular perichondritis, Western medicine treatment can make the disease recover faster and has less impact on patients. So, how does general Western medicine treat auricular perichondritis? Find out below.

General treatment of auricular perichondritis

Western medicine treatment

1. Serous perichondritis: Puncture and draw fluid under aseptic operation, and inject hardener after drawing fluid. To prevent recurrence of effusion, local pressure bandage should be applied. Liquid nitrogen can also be used for cryotherapy after drawing fluid. Most cases can be cured after 1 to 2 freezing treatments. It can be combined with magnetic therapy and ultrashort wave thermal therapy.

2. Purulent perichondritis: Use sufficient and effective antibiotics systemically to control the infection. Physical therapy can be used in the early stages. After an abscess is formed, it should be incised and drained to completely remove pus, granulation tissue and necrotic cartilage. When the residual deformity is severe and affects the appearance, plastic surgery can be performed.

Suffering from suppurative tympanitis, it is mainly an acute suppurative inflammation of the periosteum and cartilage, which is mainly due to secondary infection caused by ear trauma, mosquito bites or hematoma, or it may be due to the spread of external auditory canal inflammation. Common pathogens include Staphylococcus aureus. Due to large-scale necrosis of cartilage, the ear will thicken, curl and deform, and finally become cauliflower-shaped. It can also become suppurative. The lesions will be purulent at the position of the cartilage, and the bloody exudate will be elastic. There is no obvious pain. Some parts will be red, and there will be burning and itching sensations. Yellow liquid can be extracted through puncture.

The clinical manifestation of this disease is a burning sensation in the ears, which is gradual and accompanied by severe pain. The patient will become irritable and have poor sleep quality. The ears will become red, swollen and thickened, with particularly obvious tenderness and localized yellow bulges.

Generally speaking, treatment in the early stages will not leave sequelae or fever. As long as timely and sufficient antibiotics are used, it is very important to closely observe the patient's hearing and balance function during treatment. If the inflammation is not treated by the master, ultraviolet rays or irradiation with Duan Chaobo can also be very good.

This disease may be caused by trauma or surgical injury, or the spread of infection from adjacent tissues. Among them, the more common one is the suppurative infection of Streptococcus aureus. The cartilage gradually ages due to blood supply disorder, which ultimately affects the appearance and physiological function of the ear.
