Metamyelocyte

Metamyelocyte
In our daily life, when we go to the hospital or have a physical examination at work, we can see some blood test reports. In this report, we sometimes see the item of metamyelocytes. Usually, this type of cell has a certain range of values, which cannot exceed or be less than this value, otherwise there may be problems with our body. Let us learn about metamyelocytes below!

1. Symptoms: Metamyelocytes are granulocytes that are almost mature and can develop into white blood cells. Under normal circumstances, only when the white blood cell count is seriously abnormal may it be leukemia. Routine blood classification revealed that metamyelocytes are the pre-developmental stage of neutrophils, which are generally present in the bone marrow. A slight increase in this cell item is mainly considered to be an infectious disease, mainly bacterial infection; if this item is significantly elevated, bone marrow testing is required to rule out malignant blood diseases and make a clear diagnosis before treatment.

2. Classification: ① Neutropilic metamyelocyte: 10-16μm, with a significantly depressed nucleus in the shape of a kidney, horseshoe, or half moon, but the degree of nuclear depression does not exceed half of the assumed diameter, with coarse nuclear chromatin, more closely arranged, and no nucleolus; with abundant cytoplasm, light red in color, and filled with neutropilic specific granules collected and organized by the Medical Education Network. ② Eosinophilic metamyelocyte: 10-16 μm, with nuclear shape and structure similar to neutral metamyelocyte; the cytoplasm is filled with orange-red eosinophilic specific granules of uniform size.

③ Basophilic metamyelocyte: 10-14 μm, with condensed kidney-shaped nucleus and blurred outline; a small amount of basophilic non-specific granules are distributed in the cytoplasm and on the nucleus.
