Calcium gluconate injection is a type of injection. It can effectively supplement calcium for patients with severe calcium deficiency. It is very effective in treating acute hypocalcemia or alkali poisoning. In addition, if hypothyroidism occurs, such drugs can also be used for treatment. When using the medication, you must understand the precautions and some adverse reactions to avoid side effects. Calcium gluconate injection indications 1. Treatment of calcium deficiency, acute hypocalcemia, alkali poisoning and tetany caused by hypoparathyroidism; 2. Allergic diseases; 3. Rescue of magnesium poisoning; 4. Rescue of fluoride poisoning; 5. Application in cardiac resuscitation (such as rescue of abnormal cardiac function caused by hyperkalemia or hypocalcemia, or calcium channel blockade). Dosage Dilute with 10% glucose injection and inject slowly at no more than 5 ml per minute. For adults, for hypocalcemia, 1 g once, repeat when necessary; for hypermagnesemia, 1-2 g once; for fluoride poisoning rescue, intravenous injection of 1 g of this product; repeat after 1 hour, if convulsions occur, intravenous injection of 3 g of this product; if there is fluoride damage to skin tissue, apply 10% calcium gluconate 50 mg per square centimeter of damaged area. For children with hypocalcemia, 25 mg/kg (6.8 mg calcium) is slowly injected intravenously based on body weight. However, due to its high irritation, this product is generally not used in children. Adverse Reactions Intravenous injection may cause systemic fever, and too rapid intravenous injection may cause arrhythmia or even cardiac arrest, vomiting, and nausea. It can cause hypercalcemia, which may manifest in the early stages as constipation, drowsiness, persistent headache, loss of appetite, metallic taste in the mouth, abnormal dry mouth, etc. Late-stage signs include mental confusion, high blood pressure, light sensitivity of the eyes and skin, nausea, vomiting, and arrhythmia. Precautions If it leaks out of the blood vessels during intravenous injection, it may cause redness, rash and pain on the skin at the injection site, and may be followed by peeling and tissue necrosis. If the drug leaks out of the blood vessels, the injection should be stopped immediately and sodium chloride injection should be used for local flushing; hydrocortisone, 1% lidocaine and hyaluronic acid should be given locally, and the local limb should be elevated and hot compress should be applied. Interference with diagnosis: It can increase serum amylase and temporarily increase serum heptahydroxycortisol concentration. Long-term or large-scale use of this product will reduce the serum phosphate concentration. It is not suitable for patients with renal insufficiency and respiratory acidosis. It is prohibited to inject this product intravenously during the use of cardiac glycosides. Do not use this product if any precipitate is found. The solubility of calcium gluconate in water is about 3.3%, so this product is a supersaturated solution and crystallization may occur. The instructions for the same foreign product state that if crystallization occurs, it can be used after being re-dissolved in a water bath. However, it is not recommended to use it after crystallization. |
