Otitis externa is a relatively common type of inflammation, mainly caused by bacterial infection or eczema. For example, if water accidentally enters the ear, or the ear is affected by external force, it may cause vulvitis, which often causes redness, swelling and ulceration, and some secretions will flow out. If not treated in time, it will affect hearing, cause dizziness, tinnitus and other symptoms. Symptoms of otitis externa 1. Neoplasms in the external auditory canal: Benign tumors include external auditory canal papilloma, external auditory canal cholesteatoma, external auditory canal osteophyte, hemangioma, fibroma, cerumen adenoma, etc.; malignant tumors include adenocarcinoma, sarcoma, malignant melanoma, etc. In addition, chronic suppurative otitis media can lead to the growth of polyps in the tympanic cavity, which may prolapse from the perforation of the tympanic membrane to form growths in the external auditory canal. 2. Stenosis of the external auditory canal: In addition to congenital causes, chronic diffuse external otitis and external ear eczema often cause the skin of the external auditory canal to thicken and become narrow, which often affects hearing. 3. Collapse of the posterior superior wall of the external auditory canal bone segment: often indicates the presence of external auditory canal cholesteatoma or the formation of chronic suppurative otitis media mastoiditis. 4. Redness, swelling and ulceration of the external auditory canal: Common lesions are external auditory canal furuncle and diffuse external otitis, which are called ear furuncle and ear sore respectively in traditional Chinese medicine. The former is manifested by localized redness and swelling, obvious pain, protrusions like pepper eyes or pus spots on the top, while the latter is manifested by diffuse redness and swelling, ulceration, and abundant yellow-white secretions. Otitis externa treatment (1) Internal treatment: It is advisable to dispel wind and heat, detoxify and reduce swelling. Wuwei Xiaodu Yin combined with Yinqiao San can be used with modifications. You can also choose 30g each of honeysuckle vine, wild chrysanthemum, bitter dandelion, and sheep's foot grass, decocted in water and taken to clear away heat, detoxify, reduce swelling and relieve pain. (2) External treatment: ① Use the residue of Chinese medicine taken internally to boil again, take the juice and apply it to the ear to clear away heat and toxins, promote the flow of qi and blood, and eliminate carbuncle and swelling. ②Apply Coptis chinensis paste and Zijin tablets. ③ For the swollen phlegm nodules in front and behind the ears, you can use golden ointment or purple gold tablets for external application. ④ If the carbuncle has turned into pus, you can make an incision to drain the pus, or use a needle to prick the pus head and release the pus and blood before applying Coptis chinensis ointment. (3) Acupuncture therapy: When swelling and pain occur, acupuncture can be performed on the Hegu, Neiguan, Shaoshang and other acupoints to dredge the meridians, relieve heat and relieve pain. |
