Diagnosis and treatment of diplopia

Diagnosis and treatment of diplopia

There are many causes of diplopia, such as abnormalities in brain nerves and some brain diseases, which may lead to this phenomenon. In addition, alcohol poisoning and viral infection are also important causes of diplopia. When the symptoms of diplopia appear, you must go to the hospital for diagnosis in time, determine the cause after examination, and then receive regular treatment. Let us learn about this aspect below.

Differential Diagnosis

1. Strabismus-induced amblyopia: strabismus causes diplopia and confusion, which makes the patient feel uncomfortable. The amblyopia caused by long-term suppression of the macula in this eye is called strabismus-induced amblyopia. 2. Foggy vision is blurred vision, which is an early symptom of angle-closure glaucoma, a common type of glaucoma. 3. Iridescence is the so-called colored halo, which is also called colored ring. Iris appears in front of your eyes because the change in the refractive power of the eye produces a splitting effect, which decomposes the white light coming from the front into multiple color components according to the different wavelengths of light it contains, thus creating the typical colored halo. Iris vision is a common symptom of eye diseases.

examine

1. Test your vision. 2. Double vision examination, to detect the distance at which objects are seen in double, whether there is distortion when the two eyes see things, and whether the image is horizontal or vertical double vision. 3. Monitor the neurological status and perform CT scan when neurological disease is suspected.

Treatment principles

1. For monocular diplopia, the cause of the eye disease should be found and treated, such as wearing glasses or cataract removal surgery. 2. There are four treatments for binocular diplopia: (1) Wearing glasses: For small angles of eye deviation, wearing glasses can alleviate the symptoms. (2) External eye muscle weakness or paralysis leads to: Treatment of myasthenia gravis. (3) Cranial nerve or brain lesions: drug treatment or surgical operation, such as brain tumor removal. (4) Eye muscle surgery: to correct strabismus or to reposition extraocular muscles that are stuck after trauma.
