What should I do if my baby has a lot of red spots on his chin?

The phenomenon of many red spots on the baby's chin is quite common among many breastfeeding children. The most common reason is eczema, also known as drool rash. It is mainly because the child drools, or the milk affects the child's skin during breastfeeding. If you do not pay attention to skin cleanliness, it is easy to cause this skin phenomenon. As a parent, you should strengthen prevention.

Causes of drool rash

What exactly causes drool rash? . There are three specific situations:

(1) Saliva sticks to the face for a long time: Saliva contains digestive enzymes. These enzymes stay on the surface of the skin for too long, causing the skin's stratum corneum to decompose, leading to dryness and easily causing skin inflammation.

(2) Sucking on a pacifier for a long time: When a baby sucks on a pacifier, it will rub the skin around the mouth. Even if parents observe that the baby does not drool often, they will still find a red area around the mouth.

(3) Candida infection: Candida is a type of fungus that exists in the air. Some sensitive babies may get infected and develop rashes after contact.

What to do if you have drool rash?

(1) Wipe away saliva promptly: Once you see your baby drooling, take out a dry, soft gauze and gently wipe it off to keep the lips and face clean.

(2) Apply moisturizer appropriately: After cleaning the area, apply some moisturizer to lock in moisture. If mothers are worried that the body lotion may be accidentally ingested and cause side effects, they can use a thin layer of olive oil instead.

(3) Help your baby cut his nails short: The area affected by drool rash will be very itchy, and the baby will unconsciously reach out to scratch it. If the nails are very long at this time, by the time parents find out, the baby's face may be covered with small wounds. So dear parents, if you find signs of drool rash on your baby's face, remember to cut your baby's nails short.

(4) Don’t kiss your baby: Not only the baby’s saliva, but also the adult’s saliva will remain on the baby’s face. Over time, it will also put a burden on the baby’s skin.

Of course, if your baby's drool rash problem is very serious - there are large areas of redness and swelling, it is recommended that you seek medical treatment in time and use some medicine under the guidance of a doctor to help your baby recover.
