Is the increase in lung texture serious?

If there is an increase in lung texture in both lungs, you must remain vigilant. This is the result of an imaging examination. Through the image, you can see a shadow of radiating strips extending outward from the texture. The main cause is lung infection. Other common problems include bronchial problems, bronchial dilatation infection, etc., which are common in people who smoke frequently. At this time, a good diagnosis must be made and symptomatic treatment must be given.

Is the increase in lung texture serious?

The lung texture is the radially arranged shadows extending from the hilum to the edge of the lungs seen in imaging. It is mainly composed of the trachea, blood vessels, and lymphatic vessels of the lungs. Increased texture on both lungs is usually seen in people with infections such as bronchitis and bronchiectasis and in smokers, but it may also occur in normal people. If there are no obvious clinical symptoms, it is recommended to quit smoking and observe and follow up; if there are clinical symptoms, preliminary diagnosis and treatment can be made based on the corresponding symptoms; if necessary, a chest CT scan can be performed.

1. Increased vascular lung markings

The lung texture is coarse, and the blood vessels are maintained from the hilum to the lungs, often accompanied by an enlarged heart, which is mainly seen in rheumatic heart disease, congenital heart disease, etc.

2. Increased lymphatic lung markings

The lung texture appears as a fine reticular pattern in both lungs, which is commonly seen in pneumoconiosis, carcinomatous lymphangitis, etc.

3. Increased lung texture due to smoking

It shows increased texture in both lungs, but normal movement, which is mainly caused by chronic bronchitis caused by long-term smoking.

4. Increased physiological lung texture

It is mainly seen in the elderly and obese people. The former is due to the relatively abundant lung interstitium in the elderly, which results in increased lung texture on the chest X-ray; the latter is due to the obese physique of the examinee and increased subcutaneous fat, which leads to increased X-ray absorption, thus causing the illusion of increased lung texture on the chest X-ray.

5. Increased bronchial lung markings

It manifests as uneven lung texture, often mixed with deformed texture and small honeycomb shadows, which is common in chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, etc.
