What should hemiplegic patients do with constipation? The following methods can relieve constipation

Hemiplegia is called "stroke", "hemiplegia" and "hemiplegia" in traditional Chinese medicine. Patients with mild hemiplegia still have a certain degree of mobility, but those with severe conditions are often bedridden and lose their ability to live. Hemiplegic patients often suffer from constipation due to lack of exercise in daily life. So how to treat constipation in hemiplegic patients?

1: What to do if hemiplegic patients are constipated

1: Stroke patients should maintain normal bowel movements, and the interval between bowel movements should not be too long to avoid excessive accumulation of stool and excessive absorption of water by the intestines, which may lead to dry stools.

2: Eat in moderation and eat more fiber-rich foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to keep stools soft and create conditions that induce bowel movements.

3: For general constipation, abdominal massage can be performed to increase intestinal peristalsis and promote defecation.

4: If you cannot defecate within 15 minutes after you feel the urge, you can insert a glycerin suppository or soap fragments into your anus.

5: Once constipation is found in the patient, a laxative (such as phenol tincture) can be given immediately, 2 tablets orally every night. Or take 15ml of castor oil as a laxative, and the effect will be seen 2-6 hours after taking it. Castor oil is particularly effective for patients who have habitual constipation before a stroke. For some patients, 10g of magnesium sulfate can be dissolved in 400ml of water and taken orally. The patient will be able to defecate after about 2-4 hours. This method is more effective for those with hypertension.

6: For constipated patients who had normal bowel movements before a stroke but developed simple dry stools after the onset of the disease, 15 ml of paraffin oil can be taken orally before going to bed, which can lubricate the intestinal wall and soften the stool for easy excretion.

7: For patients with stroke and cerebral edema, it is best to use glycerin, 1g per kilogram of body weight added to an equal amount of normal saline (or warm water) for oral administration once a day. After taking it, it can stimulate the intestinal wall and soften the stool.

8: For those who have been constipated for 3 days and have not responded to various mild, slow and laxative treatments, cleansing enema can be given. It is generally believed that this is the most effective way to solve the problem of difficulty in defecation. If it still doesn't work, you should wear gloves (latex gloves) and use your fingers to dig out the dry and hard feces from the anus.

2: Maybe many people don’t know much about constipation

Pay attention to it, but in fact constipation can cause great harm and affect your health. Eating more fresh vegetables and fruits and increasing fiber intake can effectively relieve constipation.
