Causes of yellow warts on eyelids

The skin around the eyes is relatively thin, so the eyes are particularly prone to disease. Lack of nutrition in the eyes, or overnutrition in the eyes, can cause disease. At the same time, touching the eyes with dirty hands can also cause disease. The eyes can show our physical condition. Eyelid yellow warts are a common disease. So what causes eyelid yellow warts? Let’s learn more about it with the editor below.

Xanthelasma is a type of xanthelasma disease, characterized by soft, yellowish, flat, wart-like protrusions on the eyelid skin, often occurring symmetrically on the bilateral inner canthi.

Xanthelasma is a single or several small yellow spots that gradually grow larger, bulge and fuse, and become round or oval in shape. They may form a horseshoe or irregular shape around the inner canthus, but do not extend beyond the orbital area. They are generally the size of a grain of rice to a bean, have no subjective symptoms, develop slowly, and cannot disappear on their own. People believe that the occurrence of this disease is the formation of lipid-containing tissue cells in the skin, but it is sometimes accompanied by hyperlipidemia, lipoproteinemia, atherosclerosis, etc., so it is also considered to be an external skin manifestation of lipid metabolism disorders within the system.

Disease Introduction

Xanthelasma, also known as xanthelasma of the eyelid, is a common type of xanthelasma and is one of the lipid metabolism disorders. Because it often occurs on the eyelids, it can affect the appearance.

Xanthelasma eyelid is more common in middle-aged women, especially around menopause. It can occur in people with liver and gallbladder diseases, such as cirrhosis, and in people with cardiovascular diseases (coronary heart disease, etc.) or hyperlipidemia. However, more patients do not have obvious positive signs and test results of the above diseases.

The rash of xanthelasma appears as soft orange-yellow papules or plaques, which can be millet-shaped to the size of a penny, single or multiple, or they can merge into raised flat plaques. This type of wart often occurs on the upper and lower eyelids, especially the inner canthus of the upper eyelid. Sometimes the damage covers most of the eyelid, and even develops to the outer side of the upper and lower eyelids and spreads into a horseshoe shape, seriously affecting the appearance of the face.

There are many reasons for the formation of yellow warts, such as excessive mental stress, endocrine disorders, etc., which are lipid metabolism disorder skin diseases. It can also be treated through some prescriptions of traditional Chinese medicine. You can also choose a lighter and more nutritious diet in your daily life, and keep your mood happy and relaxed.

Eyelid xanthomas can usually disappear within 1 year. If they do not disappear, they can be treated with clofibrate or niacin. Boiling the Chinese medicine hawthorn and corn silk in water and drinking it also has certain therapeutic effects and you can take it consistently. General topical medications include retinoic acid ointment, wart-killer, acyclovir ointment, etc., and can be taken in combination with famciclovir, polyantigen A tablets, interferon, etc.

It is best treated with laser therapy. The erbium laser is a solid-state pulsed laser with a wavelength of 2.94 microns, which is in the infrared part of the spectrum that is invisible to the human eye. When erbium laser pulses act on the skin, the energy is quickly absorbed by the tissue, causing the rapid heating of the superficial skin, resulting in instantaneous vaporization, separation and precise exfoliation of the tissue. Because the effect is shallow and the wound heals quickly, it is most suitable for darker skin and Asian skin types.
