How to remove the granulation tissue of paronychia? This is the recommended treatment

For the granulation tissue caused by paronychia, we can treat it by hot compress. In addition, there are other methods such as incision and drainage, iodine smearing and soaking, Chinese medicine plaster, and nail removal. You can choose according to the situation.

1. In the early stage, you can use hot compress, physical therapy, external application of ichthyol ointment or Sanhuang powder, and the application of iodine amine or antibiotics.

2. If there is pus, a longitudinal incision can be made at the nail groove for drainage. When the infection has spread to the subcutaneous area around the nail base, a longitudinal incision can be made in the nail grooves on both sides, the epithelial sheet on the nail root can be turned up, the root of the nail can be removed, and a small piece of vaseline gauze or latex sheet can be placed for drainage. If pus has accumulated under the nail bed, the nail should be removed or the nail above the abscess cavity should be trimmed. When removing nails, be careful to avoid damaging the nail bed to prevent deformities of the new nails in the future.

3. Apply and soak with iodine: If there is any trauma or damage to the toes, apply or soak the affected toes with iodine 4 to 6 times a day for 15 to 20 minutes each time until the skin turns white. The disinfecting effect of iodine can corrode the diseased skin tissue and allow it to regrow to prevent paronychia.

4. Chinese medicine plaster: Chinese medicine plaster is a kind of conservative treatment method. Its function is to reduce swelling, relieve pain and detoxify. It is suitable for patients with early paronychia. Most hospitals apply ichthyol ointment or Sanhuang powder to the affected area.

5. Nail extraction : In fact, nail extraction cannot cure paronychia, especially paronychia caused by ingrown toenails. Because the toenails are curled on both sides and grow into the flesh, they will cut the soft tissue at the edge of the nails when walking, forming "ingrown toenails" and finally causing paronychia. Nail extraction can only remove the nail plate, but has no effect on the nail groove and nail bed. The newly grown nail plate will continue to grow into the flesh, causing ingrown nails, pain, and paronychia. There have been records of patients having their nails extracted four or five times a year.
