Symptoms of atrial fibrillation. Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation is very common.

Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation is common among male patients. In many cases, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation occurs frequently. It can also be caused by excessive emotional excitement. If atrial fibrillation occurs and the heart rate is too fast, it is easy to experience symptoms of palpitations and shortness of breath. It is necessary to understand the causes and take preventive measures.

1. Clinical manifestations

(1) More common in male patients: often without organic heart disease.

(2) Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation may occur frequently, and dynamic electrocardiograms may show that the attacks may last from a few seconds to several hours.

(3) It is often accompanied by frequent premature atrial contractions, which can induce atrial fibrillation.

(4) The coupling interval of atrial premature contractions is mostly <500ms, often with P-on-T phenomenon, which can induce short-term atrial fibrillation.

(5) Sympathetic nerve excitement, such as excitement and exercise, can induce atrial fibrillation.

(6) Younger patients with focal atrial fibrillation have relatively few episodes of atrial fibrillation, their atria are often small, and most of them have only one pulmonary vein affected.

(7) When paroxysmal atrial fibrillation occurs, if the frequency is not fast, there may be no obvious symptoms. If the heart rate is fast, the patient may complain of palpitations, panic, chest tightness, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, irritability, fatigue, etc. Auscultation may reveal irregular heartbeats, varying strengths and speeds of heart sounds, and a short and slow pulse, polyuria, etc. If the ventricular rate is too fast, it may cause low blood pressure or even syncope.

2. Prevention of Atrial Fibrillation

1. The prevention of atrial fibrillation should start with the prevention and treatment of the causes and triggers, treating the primary heart disease and controlling the factors that induce atrial fibrillation.

2. After atrial fibrillation is converted, antiarrhythmic drugs are usually needed to maintain sinus rhythm to prevent recurrence of atrial fibrillation. In recent years, the use of special programs built into implanted pacemakers to control and prevent atrial fibrillation has achieved remarkable results in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, allowing some atrial fibrillation that was previously difficult to treat with drugs and recurred to be satisfactorily controlled.

3. The current discovery of the pathogenic gene of human atrial fibrillation will also open up new ways to prevent atrial fibrillation in the future.
