What to do if your labia is itchy

Vulvar pruritus is a type of genital pruritus and a common clinical manifestation of gynecological diseases. The vulva is an extremely sensitive part of women. The itching sensation generally occurs in the clitoris, labia minora, labia majora and other parts. Some people also have similar symptoms on the inner thighs. Once inflammation occurs in the vulva, patients often become restless and extremely uncomfortable. When your labia is itchy, do not take any medication on your own. You should go to the hospital for examination in time to see what type of inflammation is causing it.

1. Causes

1. Chronic local irritation, irritation from abnormal secretions of vulva, vagina and cervix inflammation;

2. Unclean vulva and tight synthetic underwear, sanitary napkins, etc. lead to poor permeability;

3. Vulvar parasitic diseases, such as pubic lice, pinworms, scabies, etc.;

4. Various vulvar skin diseases and vulvar tumors, etc.;

5. Local vulvar symptoms of systemic diseases, such as diabetes, uremia, vitamin deficiency, etc.

2. Clinical manifestations

Vulvar itching often occurs on the clitoris and labia minora, and may also affect the labia majora, perineum and perianal area. Most of the attacks are paroxysmal and are usually worse at night. If the itching is severe, skin scratches may be seen.

Treatment

1. Vulvar application

Use anti-itching lotions and creams, such as calamine lotion, diphenhydramine ointment, cortisol ointment, etc.

2. Local blockade or acupoint injection

Such as cortisol, vitamin B12, phenergan, etc.

3. Treat the cause.

4. Prevention of vulvar itching

1. Wear loose, breathable cotton underwear, wash, change and dry it frequently to keep the vulva clean and dry, and keep the bedding clean and hygienic.

2. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva. Special washing utensils should be prepared at ordinary times, with "one person, one basin, one towel, and one water". First, place the small towel in the basin and boil it for 15 minutes, then let it cool before use. Before washing the vulva, you should cut your nails short and clean your hands. After washing, clean the utensils and dry them in the sun.

3. Avoid eating spicy or irritating foods, quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption, and avoid using irritating soaps, bath gels, and shower gels. Avoid scratching. When the itching is unbearable, you can divert your attention, such as listening to music, watching TV, outdoor activities, etc.

4. Pay attention to menstrual hygiene and use qualified sanitary napkins. Avoid sexual intercourse during treatment. If necessary, both husband and wife can receive treatment at the same time.

5. Clothes, bed sheets and quilts should be used and washed separately to prevent transmission within the family, especially to protect baby girls or girls from infection.
