What is intestinal bleeding?

Intestinal wind and bleeding: a disease name in Traditional Chinese Medicine. See Volume 60 of "Taiping Shenghui Fang". Intestinal wind is a type of bloody stool, which refers to external wind entering the stomach and intestines through the meridians, or internal wind coming down due to excessive liver wood, so it is called intestinal wind. The symptoms include bright red bleeding before defecation, no swelling or pain in the anus, or abdominal pain and intestinal rumbling. Most of the clinical findings are positive evidence, and the methods of cooling blood, purging heat, calming wind and calming blood are commonly used for treatment. Prescriptions such as Sophora japonica powder, donkey-hide gelatin pills, Yuhu pills, Yuxie pills, Muxiang pills, and modified Siwu decoction.

Drug composition

Dried persimmon (burned to preserve its nature) 2 liang, black plum (burned to preserve its nature) 2 liang, oil bottle bamboo shoots (those aged for more than 1 year, or 2-3 years are especially good, burn to preserve its nature) 2 liang, Sophora japonica flower 5 qian (fry until blackened), Baiyaojian 1 liang (if unavailable, roast gallnut until browned instead), Citrus aurantium 5 qian (fry with bran until yellow) (or add betel nut 5 qian).

It is mainly used to treat intestinal wind and bleeding.

The preparation method is to grind it into fine powder and make it into pills with vinegar paste, as big as sycamore seeds.

Dosage and Administration: Take 70-80 pills each time, washed down with vinegar soup.

Disease diagnosis

(1) Refers to blood in the stool caused by long-term accumulation of wind and cold in the large intestine. Volume 60 of Taiping Shenghui Fang states: “When wind and cold accumulate in the large intestine for a long time, there is virtual heat in the middle burner…the wind, cold, heat and poison attack the large intestine, and the large intestine becomes weak, and blood is discharged from time to time, so it is called intestinal wind.

(2) Refers to a condition in which the stool contains pure red blood due to wind evil. "Zheng Zhi Hui Bu" says: "either external wind enters the stomach and intestines and causes harm, or internal wind invades the lower part due to excessive liver wood, so it is called intestinal wind." The symptoms include bright red bleeding before defecation, no swelling or pain in the anus, or abdominal pain and intestinal rumbling.

(3) Refers to bleeding caused mainly by dampness and heat. "Xizhu of the Origin of Various Diseases? Origin of Various Bloods" states: "Intestinal wind is caused by the accumulation of dampness and heat in the stomach and intestines, which may even lead to bloating and bleeding.
