Causes of eye styes

Causes of eye styes

Stye is also known as Zhenyan. Many people suffer from stye because it is an acute disease that occurs suddenly. The clinical manifestations of stye are generally redness, swelling and pain in the eyes. Many people regard this disease as conjunctivitis, fearing that it may be contagious like conjunctivitis. Many people stay away from such patients. So what causes stye in the eyes?

Stye, also known as hordeolum, is generally caused by staphylococcal infection. Blockage of the meibomian gland opening can also cause acute sterile internal hordeolum. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that it is related to damp-heat in the spleen and stomach, the patient's hot constitution, and spicy and greasy diet. Mainly eat a light diet and keep bowel movements smooth.

Stye is the most common acute inflammation of the eyelid. There are two kinds of glands at the root of eyelashes, that is, eye hairs: sebaceous glands and sweat glands. If these glands are infected with bacteria and develop acute suppurative inflammation after childbirth, this is a stye, also known as hordeolum. The cause of the disease is usually due to frequent rubbing of the eyes with the hands. Since the hands often come into contact with many unclean objects, there are often many germs on them. These germs will be brought into the eyes through this bad habit of rubbing the eyes and cause eye infection. In addition, when the body is in a state of physical discomfort such as excessive fatigue, malnutrition, etc. (such as heavy study burden, physical exhaustion, indigestion, diabetes, etc.), the body's resistance is weak, and bacteria will take advantage of the opportunity to enter and cause eye infection. When it first occurs, you can apply ice to the swollen and painful eyelids, use anti-inflammatory eye drops, and take oral antibiotics if necessary. Most cases will resolve within three to four days; if the gland is swollen and purulent, surgical incision and drainage are required.

Stye is an acute purulent inflammation of the eyelid glands due to various reasons. Causes of styes include:

1. Developmental disorders of eyelid glands, causing infection or blockage of gland ducts;

2. Decreased body resistance: such as staying up late, overwork, etc. leading to excessive eye use;

3. Children are particularly prone to styes because they do not pay attention to hygiene and like to rub their eyes with their hands;

4. Stye constitution
