Management of pain after lumbar spine surgery

Management of pain after lumbar spine surgery

We should understand that postoperative pain in the lumbar spine prevents many people from leading a normal life, and there is no way to completely eliminate the root cause. Pain after lumbar surgery is caused by not paying attention to spinal health. Patients should strictly control their diet and lifestyle. Pain after lumbar surgery prevents many people from enjoying life and causes great damage to the spine. In order to resolve postoperative pain in the lumbar spine, some people should undergo orthopedic examination and treatment as soon as possible. So, how to deal with pain after lumbar surgery?

1. Symptoms

Similar to lower back and leg pain, the main symptom is pain, or limb weakness or movement disorder due to pain, or soreness and swelling, or discomfort in limbs that cannot be still, which is called restless legs. The degree of pain varies greatly. Some people cannot relieve the pain even with painkillers, while others can be relieved by massage. Some people only have pain in a few points, while others have pain in multiple places. Seriously affect normal life.

2. Causes

It is a remote injury of the waist and legs. When this happens, most of the time there are many and serious remote injuries to the entire waist, legs and feet.

3. Treatment

By examining in the manner of remote injury, it can be observed that the location of the remote injury is exactly the same as the location of the pain. Treatment according to the method introduced by Zhang Yicao et al. in the article "Drug Massage to Treat Remote Injuries" can relieve pain and other symptoms immediately, and generally allow the limbs with movement disorders to resume normal activities. For patients with severe pain, continuous follow-up treatment can be provided, that is, treatment should be given wherever pain occurs, because in severe cases, the entire waist, legs and feet are covered with injuries, and not all lesions can be treated at once. However, if there is no new painful area after treatment, and the original painful area is no longer painful or is painful but not severe, you can wait until the next treatment (five days or a week). In some cases, the pain disappears after one treatment, but it does not mean that the patient is cured. Only when the lesion is completely eliminated can it be considered a cure, so follow-up treatment is required.

4. Prevention

First of all, we need to understand remote injuries. Any such low back and leg pain is a remote injury and does not require surgery. Even if imaging examination shows lumbar disc bulge, it is generally a physiological phenomenon and not a disease site. The so-called nerve compression is incorrect. The pain only occurs at the site of remote injury. As long as the remote injury is treated, the pain will disappear and the limb movement disorder will be relieved. Because no surgery was performed, there would be no name called lumbar surgery pain syndrome.
