Can I eat mung bean porridge if I have a cold or fever?

Colds and fevers are quite common for babies. Parents are always very anxious at this time. This is mainly because babies are relatively small and their bodies are not fully developed. They are easily infected by viruses and bacteria and develop diseases. Mung bean has the effect of clearing away heat and detoxifying, so many mothers want to give their babies mung bean porridge, but mung beans are cold and can easily irritate the stomach, so can babies drink mung bean porridge when they have a fever or a cold?

Can babies drink mung bean soup when they have a cold and fever?

If a child has a cough, choose mung bean soup, which will not affect the normal recovery of the disease. It is recommended that the child drink more water. If the child has a cough, the possibility of bronchitis or pneumonia needs to be ruled out.

1. The child’s current drug treatment has poor results. It is recommended to take oral anti-inflammatory drugs to observe the effects.

2. If you have been taking oral medication for more than 3-5 days and there is no obvious effect, you still need to consider intravenous infusion treatment. The treatment principles are anti-inflammatory, antitussive, and expectorant.

3. Feed the baby more water and ask family members to turn the baby over more often to help expel phlegm.

To prevent and treat colds, you need to have a strong physique and use certain conditioning methods. Try to drink ginger tea as much as possible. Boil water with appropriate amount of ginger and brown sugar and drink it instead of tea. It can effectively prevent and treat colds, which helps to improve the body's disease resistance. Soak your feet in hot water (until the temperature is unbearable) for 15 minutes every night. Make sure the water level covers the feet. Your feet should be red after soaking, which can also prevent colds. You should also exercise regularly and keep the bedroom ventilated. This condition is more common in symptoms of a cold caused by catching a cold or viral infection. It can be controlled and recovered through self-conditioning and medication. It is recommended that you take erythromycin for anti-inflammatory, eat a light diet, and pay attention to maintaining a certain humidity in the room. Roxithromycin has the effect of stimulating the gastrointestinal tract, so it should be taken after meals as much as possible.

What to do if your baby has a fever

The normal body temperature of a baby is between 36.5 and 37.5 degrees. If you think your baby has a fever, you should take his temperature immediately!

1. Babies are prone to crying when they have a fever. Using a thermometer with a pacifier is the easiest way to measure a baby's temperature and it is also the most comfortable way for the baby. Place the pacifier in your baby's mouth for about 3 minutes to allow the thermometer to warm. Press the switch button to turn on the thermometer and keep the pacifier in the baby's mouth until a prompt sound is heard. The baby's body temperature will be displayed on the screen.

If your baby has just had a hot or cold drink, the pacifier thermometer may not be accurate. At this time, you can use a digital thermometer to measure the temperature.

2. Depending on the baby's condition, mothers can choose to use rectal temperature measurement, which is more accurate. Turn on the thermometer, lubricate the tip with water-soluble paste, and spread your baby's buttocks apart with one hand. Use your other hand to gently slide the tip of the thermometer no more than 12 mm into the rectum. The thermometer will make a sound to indicate that it is inserted properly. Then take out the thermometer and read the degree.

If the baby's temperature is high, the mother should make an objective assessment first. For example, did the baby just take a hot bath? Or is the weather too hot or the baby is wearing too many clothes? The indoor ventilation is poor, etc. The mother can first take off the baby's outer clothes and open the doors and windows to keep ventilation.

3. Generally speaking, if the baby's body temperature does not exceed 38.5 degrees, we do not recommend taking antipyretics. You can feed the baby more water to increase the baby's urine volume and promote the excretion of toxins in the baby's body.

At the same time, wiping the whole body with a warm water towel is also a good way to cool down, which is suitable for all babies with fever. Each wiping time should be more than 10 minutes. The key areas to wipe are the skin wrinkles, such as the neck, armpits, elbows, groin, etc.
