Lower abdominal pain after salpingography

Lower abdominal pain after salpingography

If female friends find that they have problems with their ability to conceive, they need to go to the hospital to check whether there is a problem with the fallopian tubes. Because the fallopian tube is an important channel for transporting eggs, many women will experience narrowing and blockage of the fallopian tube. If you want to detect whether there is a problem with the fallopian tube, you need to use the medical technology of angiography. But is it normal to have lower abdominal distension and pain after fallopian tube angiography?

Hysterosalpingography is an X-ray hysterosalpingography that uses a catheter to inject contrast medium into the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes, and uses an X-ray diagnostic device to perform X-ray fluoroscopy and filming. Based on the contrast medium's appearance in the fallopian tubes and pelvic cavity, the patency of the fallopian tubes, the location of obstruction, and the shape of the uterine cavity are examined.

Surgical hazards

At present, the hysterosalpingography examination has a certain impact on women's physical condition, but it will not cause any major harm to the patient and can basically be directly ignored. As long as you take good care of the precautions before and after the fallopian tube examination, there will be no harm to the body. Therefore, a fallopian tube angiography examination is harmless.

Precautions

Preoperative precautions

1. The patient should refrain from sexual intercourse for 3 to 7 days after the menstruation is over.

2. The patient empty their bladder. 3. Atropine 0.5 mg can be injected intramuscularly half an hour before the operation to reduce fallopian tube spasm. 4. Patients with constipation can take laxatives orally before surgery to keep the uterus in a normal position and avoid the false impression of external pressure.

Postoperative precautions

1. Do not take a bath or have sexual intercourse for two weeks after angiography. Antibiotics may be given as appropriate to prevent infection.

2. Sometimes tubal spasm may cause the illusion of tubal obstruction. Repeat if necessary.

3. A small amount of vaginal bleeding within one week after the angiography is normal if there is no other discomfort. If the amount of bleeding is more than the menstrual volume or if there are other discomforts, you should contact your doctor.

4. It is best to practice contraception for three months after the contrast examination to reduce the possible effects of X-ray exposure. However, clinical observations have found that women who become pregnant in the same month after angiography do not have an increased risk of fetal abnormalities.

side effect

1. Since the main method is to inject contrast agent into the fallopian tube and uterus, the main process is carried out under X-ray. In this way, it is difficult for the body to avoid absorbing some of the X-rays. However, patients do not need to worry too much about this, because the damage caused to the body by instantaneous X-ray exposure is within controllable range and reversible. Of course, patients should take protective measures during routine X-ray examinations. As long as basic protective measures are taken, the safety factor is still quite high, so patients do not need to be afraid of this.

2. In addition, since X-ray hysterosalpingography uses iodine contrast agents, the density of iodized oil is quite high. The main reason for using high-density iodized oil is that it has excellent development effects, but it is relatively irritating. There may be severe abdominal pain after the operation, and it may also cause chemical peritonitis. In addition, the examination time is relatively long, which can easily cause foreign matter to produce granulomas and slow absorption. In addition, if too much volume enters the vein, it may also cause oil embolism.

3. Other side effects and precautions of salpingography. Some patients may have symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, nausea, retching, cough, stomach pain, etc.; in addition, very few patients may have allergic reactions due to personal special circumstances, and severe patients may even have allergies. In addition, very few patients may have complications of infection.
