What is mycoplasma virus

Mycoplasma is neither a bacterium nor a virus. It is the smallest microorganism. There are many types of mycoplasma. Some mycoplasmas will not affect your health. The important causes of patients' illness, such as Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Mycoplasma reproductive infection, etc., are relatively serious. Mycoplasma often causes pneumonia and reproductive system infections, which have a great impact on human health.

What is mycoplasma virus

Among pathogenic mycoplasmas, Mycoplasma pneumoniae causes pneumonia, while Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma urealyticum and Mycoplasma genitalium mainly cause urogenital tract infections. Mycoplasma can exist in healthy carriers. The more sexual partners a person has and the greater the sexual activity index, the higher the infection rate. According to statistics, the mycoplasma infection rate in women is higher, which means that mycoplasma is more likely to grow in the female reproductive tract than in the male reproductive tract. It is often a reproductive system inflammation that spreads from the cervix, and sometimes manifests as redness and congestion of the urethral opening, and a small amount of secretions may overflow when the urethra is squeezed. The underlying cause of mycoplasma infection

Mycoplasmas can only adhere to receptors on the surface of epithelial cells in the respiratory or urogenital tracts and cannot enter tissues and blood. The reasons why mycoplasmas cause cell damage are as follows: mycoplasmas adhered to the surface of host cells absorb nutrients from cells, obtain lipids and cholesterol from cell membranes, causing cell damage; toxic substances produced by mycoplasma metabolism, such as neurolytic mycoplasma, can produce neurotoxins, causing cell membrane damage; ureaplasmas contain urease, which can hydrolyze urea to produce a large amount of ammonia, which is toxic to cells. In addition to adhering to the surface of cells and macrophages, mycoplasma can also adhere to the surface of sperm, thereby preventing sperm movement. The neuraminidase-like substances they produce can interfere with the combination of sperm and egg. This is one of the reasons why mycoplasma infection causes infertility.

Symptoms of Mycoplasma Infection 1. Clinical manifestations of Mycoplasma infection 1. The incubation period of urogenital tract infection is 1 to 3 weeks. The typical acute symptoms are similar to other non-gonococcal urogenital tract infections, manifested as urethral stinging, varying degrees of urgency and frequency of urination, and stinging during urination, especially when the urine is more concentrated. The urethral opening is slightly red and swollen, the secretion is thin, small in amount, and is serous or purulent. The urethra needs to be squeezed hard to see the secretion overflow. There is often a small amount of other sexual secretions at the urethral opening in the morning, or only a scab membrane seals the opening, or a dirty crotch is seen. The subacute stage is often accompanied by prostate infection. Patients often experience distension and pain in the perineum, soreness in the waist, discomfort in the inner thighs, or a tingling sensation radiating from the perineum to the inner thighs when doing anal lifting maneuvers. 2. Men infected with mycoplasma are prone to prostatitis, epididymitis, etc. As a result of the infection, the secretions in these parts become seriously infected; it directly affects the vitality and motility of sperm, resulting in a significant decrease in sperm quality and a significant increase in the number of dead sperm; the number of sperm with the ability to conceive is reduced, the motility is reduced, the morphology is abnormal, and some have low or lost ability to enter the egg and combine with it; it may directly lead to infertility or threaten the reproductive quality and breeding capacity of humans. 3. Symptoms of Mycoplasma infection in women In the early stages of infection, the vagina and cervix are usually invaded. These organs become inflamed, causing increased secretions. The vaginal discharge has an unusual odor, and some people feel slight discomfort in the reproductive tract. It is precisely because of the hidden symptoms that patients are often invaded by human Mycoplasma without knowing it. If not treated promptly, the infection will continue. It causes inflammation of the endometrium and swelling of the fallopian tube cilia, which damages the physiological functions of these organs, directly affects the entry of sperm into the uterus and fallopian tube, affects the combination of sperm and egg, and affects the normal operation of the fertilized egg. Even if pregnancy occurs, it can easily lead to fetal stillbirth, fetal death, miscarriage, low birth weight, etc. When women are infected with Mycoplasma hominis, it can also cause pyelonephritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, fever after abortion, fever after delivery, non-gonococcal urethritis and other diseases. 2. Complications of Mycoplasma infection Mycoplasma pneumoniae can infect extrapulmonary tissues, so other extrapulmonary symptoms may appear during pneumonia, such as skin damage, nervous system damage, cardiovascular system damage, digestive system damage, pleural lesions, etc. In very rare cases, central nervous system symptoms may occur, such as meningitis, meningoencephalitis, radiculitis, and even mental disorders. Hemorrhagic otitis, gastroenteritis, arthritis, thrombocytopenic purpura, hemolytic anemia, pericarditis, myocarditis, and hepatitis have also been found. A common complication of urinary mycoplasma infection is salpingitis, and a small number of patients may develop endometritis and pelvic inflammatory disease.
