Many pregnant women choose cesarean section to avoid difficult labor and heavy bleeding during normal delivery. In ancient times, many women died due to dystocia caused by heavy bleeding. Today, with the high development of modern medicine, many women who give birth naturally are also prone to heavy bleeding. Therefore, most female friends are very afraid of heavy bleeding during childbirth. So, will they die if they have heavy bleeding during childbirth? If a woman's soft birth canal is torn during childbirth, it may cause lacerations in the vagina or cervix. All of these can lead to postpartum hemorrhage. So, what is the chance of death from hemorrhage during childbirth? Postpartum hemorrhage includes three periods: from fetal delivery to placental delivery, from placental delivery to 2 hours after delivery, and from 2 hours to 24 hours after delivery. It mostly occurs in the first two periods. Postpartum hemorrhage is one of the important causes of maternal mortality and ranks first in my country. Once a parturient has postpartum hemorrhage, the prognosis is serious. If the shock is severe and lasts for a long time, even if she is rescued, she may still develop serious sequelae of secondary anterior pituitary dysfunction (Sheehan syndrome), so special attention should be paid to prevention and treatment. The incidence of postpartum hemorrhage ranges from 3% to 11%, with an average of 7%. The uterus is very small before pregnancy, but it becomes larger as the baby grows after pregnancy. The uterine wall is also stretched very large. Once the placenta is out, the large empty cavity may cause bleeding, and several thousand milliliters of blood may be lost in a short period of time. For ordinary women, although the blood volume increases during pregnancy is only about 5000 ml, several thousand milliliters of blood may be lost in a few minutes, which seriously threatens the health of the mother. Therefore, postpartum hemorrhage is still the number one cause of maternal death in the world. Maternal bleeding exceeds 500 ml for vaginal delivery or 1000 ml for caesarean section. Generally speaking, the amount of bleeding after vaginal delivery is underestimated, because hundreds of milliliters of blood may be lost from the moment the placenta is delivered to the moment the uterus fully contracts, and some women do not feel any discomfort after bleeding. Therefore, although more than 500 milliliters is considered postpartum hemorrhage according to the definition, in fact not all of these women are diagnosed with postpartum abnormalities. However, generally, everyone will pay attention to maternal bleeding after delivery. However, even if you pay attention to matching the blood, it is still possible to happen. Of course, it is related to many factors. For example, people with gestational hypertension, anemia, uterine atony, and diabetes are prone to postpartum hemorrhage. |
