1. Supplement folic acid before pregnancy: As modern medicine's research on folic acid has gradually deepened, it has been proven to be closely related to fetal neural tube defects. The best time to take folic acid supplements is from 3 months before you plan to become pregnant to the entire early pregnancy.

2. Stop taking contraceptives: If you have been taking oral contraceptives for contraception, you should stop taking contraceptives 6 months before deciding to become pregnant, or at least stop taking them 3 months before pregnancy, so that your reproductive function has enough time to gradually recover. During the period of stopping birth control pills, you can use other contraceptive methods, such as male condoms and female diaphragms.

3. Use medication with caution: Pay special attention when taking medication due to illness or other reasons before pregnancy. Because some drugs stay in the body and take effect for a long time, they may sometimes affect the fetus. Caution should be exercised when taking medication 3 months before planning pregnancy. Antihistamines, aspirin with antipyretic and analgesic effects, etc. should not be used for a long time. When taking iron supplements to treat anemia, you should consult your doctor before planning to become pregnant to find out whether it will have adverse effects on the fetus.

4. Strengthen exercise: Before planning pregnancy, the woman should adjust her body first so that she can keep her body in the best condition during pregnancy and breastfeeding, bear the responsibility of raising and educating the fetus, and be competent for the physical consumption during pregnancy and childbirth. You can do exercises such as jogging, swimming, yoga, mountain climbing, and dancing. Just spend 15 minutes a day and persist for more than 2 months to achieve the goal of improving your physical fitness.

5. Couples should avoid smoking and drinking: If you have planned to have a baby, you should try to quit smoking before pregnancy. Quitting smoking takes time and perseverance. For the health of the baby, it is imperative to quit smoking before pregnancy. Because smoking is closely related to infertility, especially the impact on male infertility is greater. Because sperm is more easily damaged than eggs, and there are examples that show that smoking can damage the chromosomes (genetic factors) in the smoker's body cells. In addition, alcohol is also a must-avoid before preparing for pregnancy. There are many examples of alcohol affecting the fetus and causing imperfect development. [1]
