The role and benefits of Chengshan

Chengshan point is located in the middle of the back of the calf, between Weizhong and Kunlun points. When the calf is straightened or the foot is lifted, the diamond-shaped depression that appears under the belly of the gastrocnemius muscle is the location of Chengshan point.

Press Chengshan to treat frozen shoulder

Chengshan acupoint combined with Tiaokou acupoint is very effective in treating periarthritis of the shoulder. Tiaokou point belongs to the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming, and Chengshan point belongs to the Bladder Meridian of Foot-Yangming. Both have high meridian qi and their intersection point is at the shoulder, so they can effectively treat periarthritis of the shoulder. Regularly pressing these two acupoints can also remove accumulated toxins in the feet, even out the lines of the feet, and eliminate the pain caused by standing up or walking for a long time.

(1) Chengshan. To carry means to shoulder and to set off. A mountain is a large pile of debris and rocks. Here, the material inside the cave refers to spleen soil. The name Chengshan refers to the spleen and earth particles that flow along the bladder meridian and solidify here. The material of this point is a compound of spleen earth and water formed by the water flowing upward along the bladder meridian. After reaching this point, the water vaporizes and the dry spleen earth particles settle around the point. The settled spleen earth accumulates like a mountain, hence the name Chengshan.

(2) Fish belly. This is a description of the characteristics of qi and blood within the acupoint from the perspective of analogy. The material of this point is spleen soil that is flushed down through the bladder meridian. It is accumulated in the point, like the plump muscles in the belly of a fish, hence the name fish belly. The names and meanings of Yufushan, Yuchang and Yuyao points are similar to Yubelly.

(3) Meat pillar. Meat is the earth governed by the spleen. Pillar is a supporting point. The name "Meat Pillar" refers to the accumulation of spleen and earth substances in the bladder meridian's qi and blood. The material of this point is the spleen soil particles that are flushed down with the bladder meridian. It is dry in nature and is piled up in the point. It has a large carrying capacity, so it is called meat pillar. The name and meaning of Yuzhu are the same as Rouzhu.

(4) Injury to the mountain. Injury means harm. A mountain is a large pile of debris. The name of the mountain refers to the fact that the rising yang heat of the bladder meridian has a great impact on the spleen and earth particles condensed in the acupoints. The material of this point is dry spleen and earth particles, and the rising yang heat style of the bladder meridian passes through this point. If there is insufficient moisture in the spleen and earth particles, it will be damaged by the rising style, so it is called Shangshan.
