According to the "Chinese Consensus on Chronic Gastritis" reached in my country in 2006, chronic gastritis is divided into non-atrophic gastritis (i.e. superficial gastritis), atrophic gastritis and special types of gastritis. The diagnosis of "superficial gastritis" has gradually been eliminated, and "non-atrophic gastritis" has begun to replace the diagnosis of "superficial gastritis" in clinical practice. It is currently believed that Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is the main cause of chronic gastritis, especially chronic active gastritis. If there are no obvious clinical symptoms, chronic superficial gastritis may not require any treatment.
