The first time, it needs to be boiled for about 10 to 15 minutes after the water boils. The second and third times, generally, it only takes ten minutes after the water boils. How long does it usually take to boil Chinese medicinal materials?

1 The total time is one and a half hours is the best. For many Chinese medicinal materials, a slightly longer time will have better medicinal effects. We must always pay attention to many common problems of Chinese medicinal materials.

1. “Decoction the Chinese medicine first”: Boil for 10-15 minutes, then add other medicines and decoct together.

2. "Post-stun": When the general medicine is about to be decocted to the predetermined amount, it can be decocted for 5 minutes.

3. "Melted medicine": It should be decocted with other medicines until the predetermined dosage is reached. Take the medicine juice, decoct it on low heat, and continue to stir and dissolve it.

4. “Take medicine with water”: Add the medicine into decocted medicine juice or boiling water and take it.

2 It can still be drunk, but the medicinal properties will be lost a lot. The paste of Chinese medicinal materials also contains some toxic substances. The purity of the Chinese medicinal materials is not pure enough, and the medicinal properties are not very good.

For medicines that have been boiled dry but not burnt, add an appropriate amount of water and cook for a while before taking them. However, the medicinal ingredients in the paste are destroyed and the efficacy is reduced.

3 Common Problems of Taking Chinese Medicine

1. Generally, Chinese herbal decoctions should be taken "warm", that is, the decoction should be filtered out immediately after being decocted, and then allowed to cool to 30℃~37℃ at room temperature before drinking; pills and powders of Chinese herbal prescriptions should be taken with warm water, which is also a kind of warm taking.

2. Chinese herbal medicines that cause cold symptoms should be taken hot, and you can eat some hot rice porridge or boiled water after taking them to help the efficacy of the medicine. However, medicines for removing toxins, clearing away heat and detoxifying, especially Chinese medicinal materials for relieving summer heat, are more effectively effective when taken cold.

3. In southern China, some "heat-reducing teas" that are often taken in summer are actually a kind of Chinese medicinal materials. To put it simply, many heat-reducing teas are best drunk cold, so that they have a better refreshing and cooling effect.

4. Avoid foods that may affect the full effect of the medicine. For example, cold foods, strong tea, spicy foods, high-calorie foods, radishes, and fishy ingredients. Some of these foods will reduce the efficacy of medicine, some will reduce digestion and absorption, and some will even cause harmful effects. Therefore, when taking Chinese herbal medicine, you must follow the doctor's instructions and do a good job of avoiding certain foods.
