What is diabetes insipidus

What is diabetes insipidus

Diabetes insipidus is a disease that is very harmful to people's health clinically. In daily life, after getting diabetes insipidus, if we don’t know what diabetes insipidus is and don’t know much about it, it will actually seriously affect people’s health. Therefore, we cannot ignore this knowledge.

What is diabetes insipidus? In fact, diabetes insipidus is a deficiency of antidiuretic hormone, one of the hormones in the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland. Therefore, it causes an increase in water excretion from the kidneys. The reason for this is that the reabsorption of water in the renal capillaries in the body is affected. Polyuria means an increase in urine volume.

Generally speaking, diabetes insipidus clinically refers to a group of syndromes characterized by the kidney's insensitivity to arginine vasopressin (also known as antidiuretic hormone), which leads to dysfunction of the renal tubular reabsorption of water, resulting in polyuria, thirst, polydipsia, low specific gravity urine and hypoosmolar urine, called nephrogenic diabetes insipidus.

However, if arginine vasopressin is severely or partially deficient, resulting in dysfunction of renal tubular water reabsorption and the above clinical symptoms, it is clinically called central diabetes insipidus. For people with kidney diseases, it doesn’t matter if they don’t know what central diabetes insipidus is, but they must understand what nephrogenic diabetes insipidus is, because diabetes insipidus can occur at any age!

In daily life, we must have a clear understanding of what diabetes insipidus is. Once you discover that you have an adverse physical condition, you must seek appropriate treatment as soon as possible. This is the guarantee that our physical illnesses will be cured as soon as possible. We cannot ignore this bit of knowledge.
