Do you know what high uric acid is? High uric acid is very harmful to us. If we don’t treat it, it will cause great harm to our joints and cause symptoms of gout. In more serious cases, it will cause us to become disabled. It is very harmful to our kidneys and there is a high chance that it will cause uremia. Everyone must pay attention to a diet with high uric acid. High uric acid levels can cause great harm to our bodies. High uric acid levels mean that our kidneys have been damaged. Now many people have kidney problems, so it is very important to have a good diet and take care of people with high uric acid levels in daily life. First of all, diet. The basic principle of diet for high uric acid is not to drink alcohol, not to eat animal offal (such as liver, kidney, brain, heart, intestines, etc.) and meat soup, eat less seafood, and drink plenty of water. Other foods can be eaten in moderation, but if excessive intake of certain foods has indeed caused your gout attack, then it should also be restricted. There is currently no good method for detecting the purine content in food, and the reports from different sources vary greatly. For patients, inaccurate quantification may be misleading. For this reason, this section only proposes some dietary principles that gout patients must adhere to for reference. 1. Total heat energy: The total heat supply varies from person to person, such as the resting state is different from that of a manual laborer. The daily calorie intake for those who are resting is 25kcal to 30kcal per kilogram of body weight, while for those who do manual labor it is 30kcal to 40kcal. For obese or overweight people, total calorie intake should be restricted and a low-calorie diet should be adopted, that is, 10kcal to 20kcal per kilogram of body weight per day. Generally speaking, it is advisable for obese people to reduce their staple food by 50g per day. 2. Purine intake: The normal purine intake of a normal person can be as high as 600-1000 mg/day. Gout patients should not take more than 100-150 mg per day when arthritis attacks. After treatment, when blood uric acid can be maintained at normal levels for a long time, the intake can be appropriately increased. 3. Carbohydrates: The staple food of gout patients should be carbohydrates, which should account for 50% to 60% of the total calories, or even up to 70%. You can choose rice, corn, flour and their products (such as steamed buns, noodles, bread, etc.). However, for patients with diabetes, carbohydrate intake should be controlled, and 4 to 5 grams per kilogram of body weight per day is appropriate, accounting for about 50% to 55% of total calories. 4. Protein: The daily protein intake should be 0.8-1.0g per kilogram of body weight, accounting for about 12%-14% of total calories. The daily protein supply can reach about 60g. 5. Fat: The daily fat intake should be 0.6 to 1 g per kilogram of body weight, accounting for about 20% to 25% of total calories. People with concurrent hyperlipidemia should restrict themselves appropriately, especially during acute gout attacks, they should avoid a high-fat diet because a high-fat diet will inhibit uric acid excretion. 6.6. Salt: Salt intake should be limited to no more than 6g per day for people with hypertension, heart disease, and kidney damage, and should generally be controlled at around 2-5g. 7. Vegetables and fruits: All vegetables can be eaten except mushrooms, beans (such as lentils), seaweed and spinach, which should not be consumed in large quantities. There are no taboos on fruits. Patients can drink an appropriate amount of fruit or vegetable juice to make the urine alkaline, thereby dissolving the crystallized uric acid and making it easier to excrete it in the urine. At the same time, fruit juice and vegetable juice are rich in vitamins, which help improve the symptoms of gout. 8. No alcohol: Gout patients must abstain from alcohol, especially beer, which is most likely to cause gout attacks and should be absolutely prohibited. 9. Bean products: You can eat them in moderation. Some scholars have found that among all the causes of gout attacks, beer is the most common (accounting for 60%), followed by seafood (18%) and offal food (14%), while soy products rarely cause gout attacks (2%). The purine content of beans measured is very low except for dry soybeans. The second is to develop good living habits: 1. Do appropriate aerobic exercise, but avoid strenuous exercise to avoid overstraining the joints. It is best to choose aerobic exercises such as swimming, Tai Chi, and table tennis to lose weight. 2. Develop the habit of soaking your feet in hot water every day or frequently. It is best to use an automatically heated footbath. Soak your feet for no less than 20 minutes and no more than 30 minutes each time. It is best if you can wash until your whole body sweats slightly. When washing your feet, you can add some Chinese medicine that can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. 3. Combine work and rest, pay attention to sleep, do not stay up late, relax your mind, and face things optimistically. Check your uric acid level every six months and try to keep it around 350. This way gout will not cause damage to any joints. Diet is very important for people with high uric acid. We should eat a reasonable diet in our lives and try to lower the level of uric acid as soon as possible. We should also develop good living habits. It is good to do some aerobic exercise regularly, but we must try our best to avoid some strenuous exercise. We should also soak our feet in hot water every day, combine work and rest, pay attention to rest more, relax our mind, and have regular check-ups. |
