Viral cold

Viral cold

Cold is a common disease that almost everyone has suffered from, especially when the seasons change, the weather is unstable, and the temperature difference is large, which is the peak period for colds. Among colds, the most serious is the viral cold, which has a higher incidence rate and is highly contagious. Once people around you are sick, they are very likely to be infected. The virus spreads relatively quickly. The speed of updating and replacement is also very fast.

Viral colds include the common cold, influenza, and viral pharyngitis. It is mainly transmitted through the air, which is hard to prevent. This requires improving one's own resistance, paying attention to personal hygiene, and opening windows for ventilation. The following introduces what tests are needed for viral colds.

1. Blood picture

The white blood cell count decreased, the lymphocyte count increased relatively, and the eosinophil count disappeared. When combined with bacterial infection, the white blood cell count and neutrophilia increase.

2. Detection of antigens by immunofluorescence or immunoenzymatic staining

Take a smear specimen of mucosal epithelial cells from the patient's nasal wash and stain it with fluorescent or enzyme-labeled influenza virus immune serum to detect the antigen. Helps in early diagnosis.

3. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) detection of influenza virus RNA

This method can detect RNA directly from patient secretions. Currently, the improved application of PCR-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay is used to directly detect influenza virus RNA, which is more sensitive than viral cell culture.

4. Virus Isolation

The gargle fluid of patients in the acute phase is inoculated into the amniotic sac or allantoic fluid of chicken embryos for virus isolation.

5. Serological examination

Serum was collected from patients during the acute phase (within 5 days after illness) and the recovery phase (3 to 4 weeks after illness) and the hemagglutination inhibition test was performed using the current test.

The above introduces the examination items that need to be done for viral colds. I hope you can understand it. For adults, they can express their condition and some cold symptoms, and their resistance is relatively strong. Especially for children, their resistance is relatively weak and they cannot express themselves very well. It is very necessary to do a test, which can detect the condition intuitively and facilitate symptomatic treatment, so as not to use a lot of medicine but still have no effect.
