Why is half my head hurting?

Why is half my head hurting? The most common cause of a headache in half of your head is a migraine. Migraine patients need to strictly control their diet and avoid eating irritating or spicy foods. Below we list some types of food that migraine patients should not eat in addition to irritating and spicy foods, and also recommend some effective treatments for migraine.

Migraines may be related to 3 kinds of diet

1. Alcohol and other stimulating drinks

Alcohol can cause the blood vessels in the head to dilate, which can cause headaches. Red wine and beer are the most common substances that trigger migraines. Some beverages in our daily life, such as coffee, soft drinks, strong tea, cola, etc. contain a lot of caffeine, which can cause strong contraction of blood vessels in the head, limit the blood flow to the brain through the blood vessels, reduce the blood flow to the brain, and cause hypoxia of the blood vessels in the head and brain. In addition, drinking too much coffee can cause a large loss of magnesium in the body, increasing the chance of migraine. Chocolate also contains a substance similar to tyramine, which can also cause migraines and should be avoided as much as possible.

2. MSG and sweeteners

MSG (containing monosodium glutamate) is the most commonly used flavor enhancer in Chinese cuisine. Many people like to use it to enhance the flavor and freshness when cooking. Some housewives always feel that adding just a little is not enough and always like to add more. In addition, it is also used in luncheon meats, canned foods, and refrigerated foods. It is also a common artificial sweetener (aspartame). MSG is not very beneficial to the human body. Even a small amount can dilate blood vessels, causing the blood vessels in the head to expand and contract continuously, causing severe migraines. Therefore, reducing the amount of MSG in your diet on a daily basis is an effective way to prevent migraines.

3. Foods containing nitrite

Many people in the workplace often go hungry or even buy convenience foods to get by. In fact, convenience foods such as hot dogs, sausages, red sausages, Italian sausages, ham, instant noodles, braised meats and other salt-cured meats contain nitrites that act as preservatives to maintain the color of the cured meats. They may be common foods that induce migraines.
