Precautions for ECG monitors

Precautions for ECG monitors

Heart disease is a very common disease nowadays, and if you have heart disease, you cannot be exposed to major stimulation. After heart surgery, you can use an electrocardiogram monitor to observe the condition of your heart. However, when using the Xindian monitor, you must pay attention to the method. The ECG monitor can measure heart rate, body temperature and respiratory rate, and these data can be analyzed. And be sure to disconnect the power supply after use to avoid electric shock accidents.

ECG monitor usage

1. Target audience

Patients with critical conditions who require continuous and uninterrupted monitoring of heart rate, rhythm, body temperature, respiration, blood pressure, pulse and transcutaneous blood oxygen saturation.

2 ECG monitoring procedures

Things to prepare:

The main components include ECG monitor, ECG and blood pressure plug-in connecting wires, electrodes, saline cotton balls, and matching blood pressure cuffs.

Operating procedures:

Connect the ECG monitor to the power supply;

Place the patient in a supine or semi-recumbent position;

Turn on the main switch;

Use a saline cotton ball to wipe the patient's chest skin where the electrodes are attached;

Stick the electrodes on, connect the ECG leads, and the ECG waveform will appear on the screen;

Tie the cuff two finger widths above the antecubital fossa. Press Measure - Set Alarm Limit - Measure Time.

3. Position of each electrode

The electrodes commonly used when using an ECG monitor and the locations of each electrode are as follows:

Right upper (RA): first intercostal space at the midclavicular line on the right edge of the sternum.

Lower right (RL): at the level of the xiphoid process in the midclavicular line of the right clavicle.

Middle (C): Fourth intercostal space on the left side of the sternum.

Upper left (LA): First intercostal space at the midclavicular line on the left side of the sternum,

Lower left (LL): at the level of the xiphoid process in the left midclavicular line.

4 Main observation indicators of the monitoring system when monitoring ECG

①Observe and record heart rate and rhythm regularly;

②Observe whether there is a P wave, and its shape, height and width;

③Measure the P~R interval and Q~T interval;

④Observe whether the QRS waveform is normal and whether there is "missed beat";

⑤Observe whether the T wave is normal;

Pay attention to whether there are any abnormal waveforms.

Blood pressure monitoring:

①Main functions: It is divided into automatic monitoring, manual monitoring and alarm devices. Manual monitoring can be started at any time by pressing the START button; automatic monitoring can be timed and the interval can be set manually, and the machine can automatically monitor at the set time.

②When using a blood pressure monitor, you should pay attention to the following: First, you should make sure that the residual gas in the cuff is exhausted during each measurement to avoid affecting the measurement results. Next, choose the right cuff.

Transcutaneous oxygen saturation monitoring:

①Fix the infrared probe of the transcutaneous blood oxygen saturation monitor on the patient's fingertips to monitor the percentage of oxygenated hemoglobin in hemoglobin when the patient's fingertips' arterioles pulsate.

②Notes :

First, the probe should be fixed during use and the patient should be kept as quiet as possible to prevent the alarm from not displaying the result;

Second, poor peripheral circulation perfusion due to severe hypotension, shock, etc. may affect the accuracy of the results.

Precautions for ECG monitoring

1. Precautions for ECG monitoring

Take out the ECG lead wire, align the convex side of the lead wire plug with the groove of the "ECG" jack on the front panel of the host, and insert it.

②The other end of the ECG lead wire with 5 electrodes is connected to the person being measured. The correct connection steps are:

a. Use 75% ethanol to clean the surface of the measuring part to remove the stratum corneum and sweat stains on the human skin and prevent poor contact of the electrode;

b. Fasten the electrode head of the ECG lead wire to the electrode buckles on the 5 electrode sheets;

c. After the ethanol evaporates, stick the five electrodes to the specific positions after cleaning to ensure reliable contact and prevent them from falling off;

d. Clip the collar on the lead wire to the bed and secure it. And remind patients and medical staff not to pull the electrode wires and lead wires.

③Please be sure to connect the ground wire, which will play a very important role in the normal display of the waveform.

2. Precautions for blood oxygen monitoring

①The plug of the blood oxygen sensor and the "blood oxygen" jack on the host panel must be plugged into place. Otherwise, it may cause the inability to collect blood oxygen information and display blood oxygen and pulse values.

The patient’s nails should not be too long and should not have any stains, dirt or onychomycosis. If the patient feels discomfort in a finger after a long period of blood oxygen monitoring, another finger should be replaced for monitoring.

Patients and medical staff should not collide or pull the probe and wires to prevent damage that may affect their use.

The blood oxygen probe should be placed away from the arm used to measure blood pressure, because when measuring blood pressure, the blood flow is blocked and blood oxygen cannot be measured at this time, and the screen displays the words "Blood oxygen probe has fallen off".
