What does anal prolapse mean?

In daily life, many parents will find that their children suffer from the adverse disease of rectal prolapse. However, it was only after a doctor's diagnosis that I learned that this condition was rectal prolapse. But what does rectal prolapse mean? Many parents do not understand. In fact, after a child suffers from rectal prolapse, parents must have a reasonable understanding in order to cooperate with the treatment of the child's disease.

Rectal prolapse is actually a disease in which the rectal mucosa, anal canal, entire rectum and part of the sigmoid colon are displaced downward and may therefore protrude out of the anus. What exactly does rectal prolapse mean? We can understand it based on the characteristics of the disease. After this kind of rectal prolapse occurs, the rectal mucosa and rectum on the body will repeatedly protrude from the anus, and will be accompanied by anal relaxation.

Grade I prolapse: The rectal mucosa prolapses. The prolapsed material is light pink, 3 to 5 cm long, soft to the touch, inelastic, not prone to bleeding, and can retract on its own after defecation. Grade II prolapse: The entire rectum prolapses, with a length of 5 to 10 cm, cone-shaped, light pink, and with circular and layered mucosal folds on the surface. It feels thick and elastic, and the anus is loose, and sometimes needs to be restored by hand after defecation. Grade III prolapse: The rectum and part of the sigmoid colon prolapse, up to more than 10 cm in length, cylindrical in shape, very thick to the touch, and the anus is loose and weak.

Grade I rectal prolapse should be differentiated from prolapsed internal hemorrhoids. When internal hemorrhoids prolapse, the hemorrhoids appear granular, without annular mucosal folds, dark red or bluish purple, and bleed easily. In addition, there are some diseases that should be differentiated from rectal prolapse, such as rectal polyps, anorectal cancer, anal papilloma, anal warts, and external hemorrhoids.

What does rectal prolapse mean? After reviewing the above knowledge, we have a certain understanding of the symptoms of rectal prolapse and the main factors of virus transmission. If this type of rectal prolapse is not treated in time, it will cause other diseases to worsen. Therefore, after we know that we have rectal prolapse, it is most important to treat it early.
