Schistosomiasis treatment

Schistosomiasis treatment

There are many people who accidentally contract schistosomiasis due to various factors in life. After contracting this disease, the patient suffers great physical damage. If it is not diagnosed and treated in time, it will cause many complications. However, the treatment of schistosomiasis requires finding the cause and actively cooperating with regular treatment. We need to be aware of this.

When treating schistosomiasis, if the patient has persistent high fever in the acute phase, it is recommended to use more corticosteroids or use some antipyretics to relieve poisoning symptoms and cooling treatments. Such treatment measures can hinder the onset of the disease for patients with the disease.

Trichlorfon has low toxicity and is easily hydrolyzed into dichlorvos in alkaline solutions, increasing its toxic side effects. The two drugs have a synergistic effect when used together. Each dichlorvos anal suppository is 0.2g. Starting from the 2nd to 3rd day of the furazolidone treatment, one suppository is placed in the rectum 10cm away from the anus every night. The buttocks are raised and the patient lies on the side for half an hour. This is done 3 times in total. The rate of negative conversion of worm eggs reaches 90%. Dichlorvos is injected intramuscularly 100-150mg daily for 3 days.

Side effects: Furanpropamine can cause gastrointestinal reactions such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and bloody stools; it can also cause muscle spasms and neuropsychiatric symptoms. The above reactions can all be relieved on their own, and treatment should be terminated in severe cases. Trichlorfon can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as dizziness, headache, insomnia, sweating, and salivation, which can be relieved after symptomatic treatment and will not affect continued treatment. Some patients may develop Adams-Stokes syndrome, which can be treated with atropine, pralidoxime antidote, etc., and the use of trichlorfon treatment should be stopped. It is contraindicated in combined treatment of patients with a history of mental illness, neurosis, ulcer disease, nephritis, hepatitis and other diseases.

Regardless of which treatment measure is used, in fact, during the treatment of schistosomiasis, we must pay attention to the side effects of drugs. We should strengthen nutrition and give high-protein diet and multiple vitamins. We should also pay attention to the treatment of anemia in the patient's body. Only by unifying treatment and nursing measures can we ensure that the patient's physical disease is cured.
