Early symptoms of gout

The disease of gout is actually quite familiar to many people, but the general public's understanding of gout usually only remains at the stage of having seen or heard of it, so in reality there are still very few people who really understand gout, except for those patients or relevant professional doctors. Gout can actually be divided into several stages, and early gout is one of them. So, what are the early symptoms of gout?

There are many early symptoms of gout, which is also one of the bases for many doctors to judge the early stage of gout clinically. Gout causes great pain to patients, and the damage caused by gout is generally systemic. The symptoms of gout are different in each stage, but generally the early symptoms are severe in the mouth. So, let’s talk about the early symptoms of gout.

Gout is caused by excessive uric acid in the body. Drinking, dampness and cold, fatigue, trauma, surgery and infection are all inducing factors. Gout should follow the principle of early detection and early treatment at a regular gout specialist. Because gout attacks are very harmful, they can cause tophi. The enlargement and rupture of tophi can lead to joint disability and even the need for amputation. In addition, the kidneys will gradually be damaged and renal failure will occur. In order to detect gout earlier, you need to have a clear understanding of the early symptoms of gout.

Early symptoms of gout:

Time of attack: Most of the attacks occur at night, and there are two reasons for this. One is that when you sleep at night without eating or drinking water for a long time, the water content in your body decreases and the uric acid concentration increases. Second, the corticosteroids produced by the human adrenal glands can inhibit gout inflammation, but the secretion of hormones decreases at night, creating an opportunity for gout attacks.

Attack site: The joint that attacks is usually single and asymmetrical. The affected parts are the big toe joint, followed by the dorsum of the foot, ankle, knee, finger, wrist, elbow, etc., while the shoulder, hip joint and spine are rarely affected.

Symptoms of attack: sudden onset and severe pain. Everything is normal before the patient goes to bed, but the patient wakes up in the middle of the night or early morning with a sharp pain in the toes. The pain gradually becomes more severe and unbearable. Even the slightest touch of the sheets will cause a stinging pain that goes deep into the heart.

Other manifestations: There may be fever, increased white blood cell count and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (easily misdiagnosed as cellulitis or erysipelas). Generally, it will subside naturally after three days or a few weeks.

Causes of attacks: cold, fatigue, drinking, food allergies or eating high-purine foods, infection, trauma and surgery are common triggers.

Management of gout attacks:

1. Raise the affected limb to avoid excessive weight on the joint, rest in bed, and take certain anti-inflammatory and analgesic measures under the guidance of a doctor. 2. After the acute symptoms are relieved, go to a regular specialist for systematic and regular treatment. Currently, Shanghai is the best.
