The dangers of gout

Gout is a disease of human beings, and the incidence of gout is still relatively high in today's society. Although gout is a common disease, not many people today really understand gout. There are many symptoms of gout, and there are also many dangers of gout, which are often unknown to most people. However, for many gout patients, they are still relatively familiar with the harm of gout.

There are many dangers of gout, which gout patients are well aware of. In real life, many gout patients often suffer from severe pain during gout attacks. In fact, this is also a manifestation of the harm of gout. Of course, the harm of gout to the human body is far more than this. So, let’s take a detailed look at the dangers of gout.

Gout is a common metabolic disease that mainly affects middle-aged and elderly people. In recent years, it has gradually become younger. This has an important relationship with people’s diet. Many people think that gout cannot be cured and is a waste of money. In fact, gout is very harmful.

Clinical manifestations: Acute gout attacks are characterized by severe pain, swelling, erythema, stiffness, and fever in the affected joints, and the symptoms occur suddenly. The attack period usually lasts from a few days to a week. There is usually no triggering factor, but it can occur following minor trauma or eating foods rich in purines. Gout often occurs during the acute phase following surgery.

So what are the dangers of gout?

1. Gout stones are usually found in the helix, metatarsophalangeal joints, interphalangeal joints and metacarpophalangeal joints.

2. Gouty arthritis: obvious redness, swelling, heat and pain appear in local joints, and the body temperature is around 38°C.

3. Gout nephropathy, pathological changes of gout, manifested as edema, hypertension, increased blood urea nitrogen and creatinine, and may eventually lead to death due to renal failure or combined cardiovascular disease.

4. Metabolic syndrome: Gout patients often have metabolic disorders, which can cause varying degrees of damage to the liver.

5. Gouty urinary tract stones. Uric acid urinary tract stones are mostly mud-like stones, often asymptomatic. Large stones may cause renal colic and hematuria. If the stones recur, they may cause urinary tract obstruction and local damage, and are prone to infection.

6. Gouty cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Gout patients with coronary heart disease and hypertension, when the disease course is long and the blood uric acid level is high, may have more urate crystals deposited in the myocardium, arterial walls, etc., and even develop uric acid heart disease.

Through the introduction from six different angles in the above article, I believe most people should understand the dangers of gout. It can be seen from this that gout really has many harmful effects. The hazards of gout can generally be manifested as: tophi, gouty arthritis, gouty nephropathy, metabolic syndrome, gouty urinary stones, etc. In fact, knowing the harm of gout is also beneficial for the treatment of gout.
