How to prevent Parkinson's

How to prevent Parkinson's

When it comes to Parkinson's disease, many people know that it is a very harmful disease. If it is not treated in time, it will not only cause inconvenience in movement, but also endanger life. Moreover, the treatment of this disease is very difficult, and it will definitely be a waste of life and money after contracting it. Therefore, it is very important to prevent Parkinson's disease, especially for the elderly, because the probability of developing Parkinson's disease is very high due to the decline of body functions.

So, how to prevent Parkinson's disease? Many people know that they should prevent Parkinson's disease, but because they do not understand the relevant knowledge, they can only give up. In fact, preventing Parkinson's is not difficult. Let’s learn about the prevention measures for Parkinson’s disease.

Primary prevention (preventing disease when you are healthy)

1. People with a family history of Parkinson's disease, carriers of related genes, and those who have been exposed to toxic chemicals should be considered high-risk groups and require close monitoring and follow-up, regular physical examinations, and enhanced health education, as well as emphasis on self-protection.

2. Increase efforts to protect the industrial and agricultural production environment, reduce emissions of harmful gases, sewage, and waste, and strengthen labor protection for workers working in hazardous environments.

3. Improve drinking water facilities in rural and urban areas, protect water resources, reduce pollution of river, reservoir, pond and well water, and ensure that the general public has access to safe and hygienic drinking water.

4. Elderly people should use phenothiazines, reserpines and butyrophenones with caution.

5. Pay attention to the prevention and treatment of geriatric diseases (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, cerebral arteriosclerosis, etc.), strengthen physical fitness, delay aging, and prevent atherosclerosis, which can play a certain positive role in preventing Parkinson's disease.

Secondary prevention (early detection, early diagnosis, early treatment)

1. Early diagnosis. The subclinical period of Parkinson's disease is long. If preclinical diagnostic techniques can be carried out early, such as olfactory dysfunction, PET scanning, mitochondrial DNA, dopamine antibodies, cerebrospinal fluid chemistry, electrophysiology and other examinations, subclinical Parkinson's disease can be discovered as early as possible and treated with neuroprotectants (such as vitamin E, SOD, glutathione and glutathione peroxidase, neurotrophic factors, and celecoxib), the entire clinical process may be delayed.

2. In the early stage of Parkinson's disease, although the number of nerve cells in the substantia nigra and striatum decreases, dopamine secretion increases compensatorily. At this time, the dopamine content in the brain has not decreased significantly, which is called the compensatory period. Drug treatment is generally not recommended. Physical therapy, medical sports, Tai Chi, hydrotherapy, massage, Qigong, acupuncture and other treatments can be used to maintain daily work and life, and try to postpone the use of anti-tremor paralysis drugs. However, some people advocate the early use of small doses of levodopa to reduce complications. This depends on the individual and the best one should be used.

3. Drug treatment should be used during the decompensated stage of Parkinson's disease.

As we all know, disease prevention is not a matter of overnight, so persistence is the main magic weapon to achieve ultimate victory. In the process of preventing Parkinson's disease, if you rely on luck, you will often not succeed. In addition, if you suffer from Parkinson's disease, you should not avoid medical treatment, because treatment can improve the patient's quality of life.
