Leukemia patients should develop good living habits, pay more attention to rest and personal hygiene. This will be very helpful in controlling the incidence of leukemia. When facing a common disease like leukemia, we recommend that you pay attention to its care methods in life, which will help you treat leukemia. Therefore, you should know some bleeding care and isolation care for leukemia to avoid affecting other friends.

The nursing measures for leukemia are as follows:

1. Rest Children with leukemia often have no endurance for activities and need to rest in bed, but generally they do not need to be completely bedridden. People who are bedridden for a long time. Change body positions frequently to prevent bedsores.

2. Prevent infection

Infection is one of the important causes of death in children with leukemia. Children with leukemia have reduced immune function, and chemotherapy drugs suppress the bone marrow, often leading to a decrease or lack of mature neutrophils, which further reduces immune function. Neutropenia or agranulocytosis and decreased immune function are risk factors for infection. The longer neutropenia persists, the greater the threat of infection. The following measures can be taken to prevent infection.

(1) Protective isolation: Leukemia patients should live in separate rooms from patients with other diseases. To avoid cross infection. Patients with significantly low granulocyte and immune function should be placed in single rooms. If conditions permit, they should be placed in ultra-clean single rooms, laminar air flow rooms or single sterile laminar flow beds. Ordinary wards or single rooms need to be regularly exposed to ultraviolet light and fumigated with glutaraldehyde. The number and frequency of visitors should be limited, and staff and visitors should wash their hands carefully before contacting sick children.

(2) Pay attention to personal hygiene: keep the oral cavity clean and rinse the mouth with warm water or oral liquid before and after eating. It is advisable to use a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid damaging the oral mucosa and causing bleeding and secondary infection. If there is a mucosal fungal infection, fluconazole or itraconazole can be applied to the affected area. Changing clothes frequently and bathing every day can help to excrete sweat and reduce the occurrence of folliculitis and skin boils. Keep bowel movements smooth and clean the anus with warm water or salt water after defecation to prevent the formation of perianal abscesses.

3. Bleeding care Bleeding is another major cause of death in children with leukemia. For bleeding care, please refer to the nursing measures for idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura in this chapter.

4. Nursing of blood transfusion

Temporary low bone marrow regeneration is an inevitable consequence of effective chemotherapy. During the treatment of leukemia, blood components or blood transfusions are often required for supportive treatment. The blood transfusion system should be strictly followed during infusion. Generally, a slow drip is given first and observed for 15 minutes. If there are no adverse reactions, the drip rate is adjusted according to the child's age, cardiopulmonary function, acute or chronic anemia, and the degree of anemia. Adverse reactions caused by blood transfusion should be closely observed during the transfusion process.
