What are the effects and functions of Tianjiwang?

The medicinal value of Tianjiwang is relatively high. It is clinically used to treat late-stage schistosomiasis, liver cirrhosis and ascites. It also has certain effects on the treatment of snake bites, but care must be taken when using it to correctly match it with other medicines.

1. Treatment of ascites caused by liver cirrhosis due to late-stage schistosomiasis: According to reports from various places, the efficacy is mixed. Most observations show that Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae has a diuretic effect, which sometimes has a laxative effect, but the amount of diuresis varies greatly, and in a small number of cases there is no increase in urine output. The onset of the diuretic effect varies in speed, but most cases begin within 1 to 5 days. It can play a certain role in promoting the elimination or reduction of ascites. While ascites is eliminated or reduced, physical signs can also be improved, appetite can be increased, nutrition can be improved, or blood count and liver function can be improved, creating conditions for antimony treatment.

2. Treatment of snake bites: Take 30-48 grams of Tianjihuang every day, simmer for half an hour on low heat, and take orally in 3 times. Alternatively, mash the Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae and apply it externally, changing it twice a day. 88 cases of snake bites were treated; systemic symptoms disappeared in about 1 to 2 days, local edema subsided in about 3 to 5 days, with an average of 5.4 days, and all were cured. This shows that Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae has a good detoxifying effect on snake bites and works quickly, especially for those with severe systemic poisoning symptoms.

3. Treatment of erosive tinea pedis and subacute eczema: Use 8% Tianjihuang decoction for wet compress, or apply 40% Tianjihuang decoction externally, which is effective quickly.
