What is a vaccine?

I believe that in the memories of the 80s and 90s generation, when getting vaccinated, in addition to seeing children crying, they could also eat a very sweet candy. In fact, the candy we eat is called sugar pills, which is also a kind of vaccine. It can be said that sugar pills are the most delicious vaccine when we were children, and no child does not like to eat them. Many people know that the function of sugar pills is to prevent polio, so what kind of vaccine is it?

Sugar pills are a type of vaccine. Sugar pill vaccine requires milk powder, cream, glucose and other materials as adjuvants. The liquid vaccine is rolled into sugar to form a sugar pill vaccine. The sugar pill vaccine is white and very sensitive to heat. It is the first category vaccine in the national immunization program.

The polio vaccine used in our country is a live attenuated vaccine, which is a mixed sugar pill vaccine. After oral immunization, this vaccine can stimulate the body to produce immunity against polio virus and is used to prevent poliomyelitis. Taking polio vaccine is a specific immunization measure to prevent the occurrence of poliomyelitis.

Directions:

Start taking sugar pills when the baby is 2 months old, take 1 pill each time when the baby is 3 and 4 months old, that is, take it 3 times in a row within 1 year old. The interval between each taking in 2, 3 and 4 months must not be shorter than 28 days. Take another pill when the baby is 4 years old. Other age groups can also take it when needed.

Use a sterilized medicine spoon to put the sugar pill into the child's mouth and swallow it with cold boiled water; for young children, you can crush the sugar pill, put it in a medicine spoon and add a little cold boiled water to dissolve it into a paste for consumption, or dissolve the sugar pill in 5 ml of cold boiled water, allow it to completely dissolve and swallow it orally.

Contraindications:

There are generally no special contraindications. It is not recommended for patients with fever, acute infectious diseases, immunodeficiency, those receiving immunosuppressant therapy, and pregnant women. It should be used with caution in children with fever, acute diseases, active chronic diseases, and severe diarrhea. It should be used with caution in patients who are allergic to milk.

Adverse reactions:

The vaccine is relatively safe and has no serious adverse reactions. Some children may experience fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. within 1 to 2 days after taking the vaccine, and occasionally a rash. They will recover on their own within 2 to 3 days without treatment. Symptomatic treatment can be given to patients with severe symptoms.

Save transportation:

From the date when the vaccine sugar pill passes the inspection, the shelf life is 2 years if stored below -20°C and 5 months if stored at 4-8°C. Transportation should be carried out under refrigerated conditions. Use within the expiration date stated on the box label.

Polio vaccine is sensitive to heat and is relatively stable under low temperature conditions. It should be transported and stored at -20℃ to 8℃ and away from light.
