Causes and treatments of conjunctivitis

Causes and treatments of conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis is a type of pink eye disease, which is caused by certain pathogenic microorganisms or bacterial infection. It is highly contagious and can be transmitted to others through towels, washbasins, swimming pools, etc. It is common in summer and autumn and often breaks out in epidemics.

The most common cause of conjunctivitis is microbial infection, including infections by bacteria, germs, chlamydia, etc. Physical stimulation, chemical damage, immune lesions, and systemic diseases can all cause conjunctivitis.

Conjunctivitis generally has no obvious systemic symptoms. Severe cases may be accompanied by systemic symptoms such as headache, fever, and swollen preauricular lymph nodes. Since conjunctivitis is caused by microbial and bacterial infection, inhibiting pathogenic microorganisms and bacteria can effectively prevent and treat the disease.

In daily life, patients should be careful not to rub their eyes with dirty hands, cut their nails frequently, wash their hands before and after meals, avoid discomfort caused by strong light stimulation, wear sunglasses to block light when going out, and try to avoid contact with patients and items they have used.

In terms of diet, patients with conjunctivitis should choose foods that dispel wind and heat, clear liver fire, and light ingredients and fruits, such as loofah, bitter gourd, purslane, honeysuckle, cassia seed, etc., and consume more foods high in nutrient content, such as cauliflower, oranges, grapefruit, tomatoes, strawberries, etc.
