Symptoms of a stroke

Symptoms of a stroke

Stroke directly damages the patient's nervous system and has a certain impact on language and limb function. There are some subtle symptoms in the early stages of a stroke. Understanding these symptoms will greatly help improve the treatment effect. Timely treatment is what a stroke needs. If everyone can learn more about the symptoms of stroke, it will be helpful for prevention.

Common symptoms of stroke are frequent yawning or stuttering. These are early symptoms of stroke. If these symptoms can be detected in time, the disease can be treated promptly.

Pre-disease signs

Continuous yawning: When cerebral arteriosclerosis gradually worsens, the lumen becomes narrower and narrower, and cerebral ischemia and hypoxia worsen, especially when the respiratory center is hypoxic, it will cause yawning reflex. Frequent yawning occurs in about 80% of people within 5 to 10 days before an ischemic stroke, and is an important warning sign.

Stuttering: Symptoms of drooling include slurred speech and drooling, which are signs of a stroke and may occur suddenly.

Aomaly: sudden blackness in front of the eyes and inability to see anything, which recovers within a few seconds or minutes and is accompanied by nausea, vomiting, dizziness and impaired consciousness. Norwegian doctor Koti found carotid atherosclerotic lesions in 11 of 18 patients with amaurosis fugax.

Blurred vision: It manifests as temporary visual impairment or visual field loss, which usually recovers on its own within 1 hour. Coty performed fundus examination and cerebral blood flow measurement on 10 patients with transient visual impairment and found that 3 of them had central retinal artery occlusion and 7 had branch retinal artery occlusion.

Razor drops to the ground: This happens when you are shaving with a razor and your head turns to one side. Suddenly, you feel your arm become weak and the razor falls to the ground. You will fully recover after 1 to 2 minutes. This is because when you turn your head and twist your neck, the already hardened carotid artery is twisted, aggravating the stenosis and leading to insufficient blood supply to the brain.

Hemiplegia: also known as transient ischemic attack, strictly speaking, this is the mildest type of stroke. According to follow-up observations, more than half of the people will suffer ischemic stroke 3 to 5 years after a transient ischemic attack.

Anyone who has any of the above symptoms should be examined early, and after a clear diagnosis, systematic treatment should be carried out to avoid the occurrence of stroke.

Symptoms

1. Headache: Whether it is cerebral hemorrhage or cerebral infarction, headache is very common and is also an important symptom and signal of cerebral stroke.

2. Vomiting: It usually occurs together with headache and is also very common. Its characteristic is projectile vomiting. If the patient vomits coffee-colored (soy sauce-like or brown-black) liquid, it means the condition is very serious.

3. Dizziness: Dizziness is often accompanied by vomiting or tinnitus, which is a common symptom of stroke.

4. Abnormal sensation in one side of the limbs and face.

5. Drooling from the corners of the mouth: If the corners of the mouth are slanted, drooling, or food flows out of the corners of the mouth, sufficient attention should be paid.

6. Sudden visual impairment: manifested as inability to see objects on the left or right or visual impairment. It can also be manifested as transient blackening in front of the eyes or the feeling of a mosquito suddenly flying in front of the eyes.

7. Sudden symptoms of slurred speech and choking when swallowing: The patient may have difficulty speaking clearly, have difficulty pronouncing words, and choke when drinking water or swallowing.

8. Disturbance of consciousness: manifests as confusion, unresponsive breathing, snoring, and in severe cases, deep coma.
