Causes of fatigue and drowsiness

General fatigue and drowsiness are a situation that many friends often encounter in their daily lives. There are many reasons for general fatigue and drowsiness, which are usually caused by people's excessive fatigue. Of course, there are many other reasons that cause general fatigue and drowsiness, but most people are not very clear about the specific reasons. General fatigue and drowsiness are undesirable for everyone, because general fatigue and drowsiness often affect our daily life.

The probability of experiencing general fatigue and drowsiness is very high in everyone, and when most people experience general fatigue and drowsiness, they often choose to rest and sleep to relieve the symptoms. Indeed, many times people can relieve symptoms of fatigue and sleepiness by sleeping, but this is not a cure. So, let’s first talk about the reasons for general fatigue and drowsiness.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the pathogenesis of narcolepsy is mostly caused by the poor circulation of the middle qi, which is the qi of the spleen and stomach. Traditional Chinese medicine has the saying that if the spleen is blocked, the person will feel sleepy.

According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, "Yang" is active and "Yin" is quiet. Therefore, narcolepsy can also occur when the Yang Qi is insufficient and the Yin Qi is excessive. The chapter "Cold and Heat Diseases" in Lingshu says: "When Yang Qi is strong, the eyes will be wide open, and when Yin Qi is strong, the eyes will be closed." This shows that the pathology of narcolepsy is mainly due to the strong Yin and weak Yang. Treatise on the Spleen and Stomach

, "Discussion on the Deficiency of Spleen and Stomach in the Lung" "The Deficiency of Spleen and Stomach Causes Laziness and a Love of Sleeping" "Danxi's Heart Method, Treating Dampness": "The spleen and stomach are affected by dampness, causing heaviness, weakness, laziness and a love of sleeping". There are also people who suffer from drowsiness, weakness and frequent sleep due to weak Yang Qi and insufficient blood circulation after illness or at an advanced age. According to the etiology and pathogenesis of narcolepsy, it is divided into five types:

1. Phlegm-dampness obstructing the spleen: often seen in obese people, with symptoms such as chest tightness, poor appetite, uncomfortable bowel movements, nausea and vomiting due to excessive phlegm, heaviness, drowsiness, greasy white tongue coating, and a weak and slow pulse.

2. Deficiency of spleen: more common in people after illness or the elderly, with fatigue, poor appetite, drowsiness after eating, laziness to speak, easy sweating, pale tongue with thin white coating, and weak pulse.

3. Liver depression and spleen deficiency: long-term worry and anxiety, listlessness, dizziness and drowsiness, discomfort in the flanks with frequent dreams, poor appetite, difficulty in defecation, thin white or slightly greasy tongue coating, and dark, thin or astringent pulse.

4. Blood deficiency: Pale and dull complexion, poor appetite, listlessness, palpitations and shortness of breath, laziness to speak, dizziness, pale tongue with thin white coating, and deep, thready and weak pulse.

5. Dampness and turbidity obscure the vision: The head feels heavy as if wrapped, the mouth is dry and sticky but no desire to drink water, the chest feels tight but no hunger, bowel movements are not smooth, and the tongue has a thick and greasy coating. Drowsiness caused by high mental stress or excessive fatigue coupled with rain. The Neijing says: "Where evil gathers, the Qi must be weak; where righteous Qi exists within, evil cannot invade." The head is the meeting point of all Yang. If it is obscured by dampness and turbidity, the clear Yang will not rise and the turbid Yin will not descend, then one will feel drowsy and sleepy. For treatment, it is recommended to use "Xingpi Kaiqiao Decoction". The dosage of medicine is adjusted according to the specific situation of the patient. It is highly targeted, symptomatic treatment has no toxic side effects, and the treatment effect is very good.

The specific reasons for fatigue and sleepiness are as follows:

1. Poor sleep at night, or too short sleep time, or sleep apnea, that is, snoring and intermittent breathing during sleep, which affects the quality of sleep; over time, it disrupts the biological clock. Fatigue and drowsiness, accompanied by dizziness and confusion, may be a symptom of early neurasthenia.

2. Malnutrition can easily lead to drowsiness and sleepiness. Supplementing protein can improve sleepiness. There is also another type of illness called narcolepsy, which usually begins after puberty. The main symptom is daytime sleepiness, which manifests as sleepiness regardless of time and place. For example, sleep attacks may occur when talking to guests or at work. Narcolepsy generally does not cause other organic diseases.

3. Obesity and overweight in adolescents or young and middle-aged people can also cause excessive sleepiness during the day.

4. Depression may be the main cause of excessive daytime sleepiness. People with depression are three times more likely to feel excessively sleepy during the day than normal levels.

5. Diabetes. Excessive daytime sleepiness is closely related to diabetes. People with diabetes are nearly twice as likely to experience daytime sleepiness as other people. Hypothyroidism. Thyroid patients often experience drowsiness due to their low basal metabolism.

In fact, there are many reasons why a person feels weak and sleepy, and most people know this. Therefore, through the detailed introduction in the above article, I believe everyone should now know the specific reasons for general fatigue and drowsiness. The points introduced above are the main reasons for general fatigue and drowsiness, so everyone must pay attention to these aspects in their future life.
