How to treat acute laryngitis

Acute laryngitis is a type of laryngitis and is more serious than other laryngitis symptoms, so we must find a good way to treat it. No matter what type of disease it is, it has its own unique cause and symptoms. The symptoms are designed to help us better diagnose what type of disease we have. The cause of the disease allows us to better study ways of prevention and treatment. Treatment is the only way to cure the disease.

Any disease needs to be discovered and treated in time to be cured. No matter what we do, we hope that our bodies are in good health. Once any physical abnormality occurs, it needs to be dealt with in a timely manner, because it will more or less affect our normal life. How to treat acute laryngitis?

Acute laryngitis refers to acute nonspecific inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa and vocal cords. The course of the disease is usually less than 1 month. It is one of the common acute infectious diseases of the respiratory tract, accounting for about 1% to 2% of otolaryngology diseases. This disease generally refers to acute laryngitis occurring in adults. It often occurs secondary to acute rhinitis and acute pharyngitis. The incidence rate is higher in men than in women. It often occurs in winter and spring.

1. Rest your vocal cords

The most important treatment measure for acute laryngitis is to rest the vocal cords, not to make sounds or to minimize the number of times and intensity of sounds, so as to reduce vocal cord edema caused by bilateral vocal cord movement and mutual friction caused by pronunciation.

2. General treatment

Keep indoor air circulating and moist, avoid cold and high temperature stimulation; ensure adequate sleep and rest, adjust physical condition and enhance resistance; avoid dry mouth and tongue, drink plenty of water, eat a light diet, eat vegetables and fruits regularly, avoid spicy and irritating foods, and refrain from smoking and drinking. Avoid allergic foods and irritating gases. Actively treat upper respiratory tract infections and adjacent lesions such as rhinosinusitis, pharyngitis, tracheitis, etc.

3. Antiviral and antibiotic treatment

For acute laryngitis caused by viral infection, antiviral drugs can be used on the basis of general treatment, while acute laryngitis secondary to bacterial infection should be treated with oral or injected antibiotics to control inflammation in time.

4. Glucocorticoid therapy

Those with obvious congestion and swelling of the vocal cords can take glucocorticoids orally or intravenously to quickly eliminate laryngeal mucosal edema and reduce the degree of hoarseness. For patients with subglottic laryngitis, oxygen should be administered and breathing should be closely monitored, and intravenous glucocorticoids should be administered in a timely manner to prevent worsening of dyspnea.

5. Ultrasonic nebulization inhalation therapy

Oral nebulization inhalation therapy can be performed with an antibiotic solution containing steroid hormones, which allows the mist drug to act directly on the throat, helping to reduce inflammation and swelling, thin throat secretions, and relieve throat pain.

The above introduces several methods of treating acute laryngitis. Only by correctly mastering the treatment methods of acute laryngitis can we better restore our healthy physical condition. In fact, as long as it is a good treatment plan, we can try it, because it is very important to cure it early. The prerequisite is to understand the cause and symptoms of the disease.
