The calyx is cup-shaped, 2.5 to 4 cm long, 2 to 3 cm in diameter, with 3 to 5 lobes at the apex, thick and leathery, very brittle, brown-black in appearance with longitudinal wrinkles, and covered with short gray-yellow hairs on the inside. There are 5 petals, which are wrinkled or broken, with brown-yellow or dark brown surfaces and covered with stellate hairs, while the inner surface is reddish-brown with fewer stellate hairs. There are many stamens, arranged in multiple rows, fused at the base, and the anthers are kidney-shaped and curled. It has a faint smell and a light, slightly sweet taste. The best ones are large, complete, and brown-yellow in color.

Cultivation of medicinal plants: Biological characteristics: It likes warm climates and is a representative tree species of tropical monsoon forests. It is not cold-resistant, light-loving, drought-resistant, grows rapidly, has strong sprouting ability, and deep roots.

Strong wind resistance. It grows best in deep, fertile acidic or neutral soil.

The cultivation techniques include sowing, cutting and division. Collect before the capsule opens.

The germination shelf life of seeds is short, so they are usually sown as soon as they are picked. They can also be stored in wet sand for a short period of time, sown in rows, covered with 2 cm of soil, and the average temperature is above 20℃. Generally, seedlings will emerge in 4-5 days. Cuttings are usually carried out in February and March or in the rainy season. Use large branches with a length of 80-100 cm and a horizontal diameter of 1-2 cm. Insert them into the seedbed 10-15 cm deep and keep the bed moist at all times. Division is from the root of the mother plant. It is easier to survive if a section of the mother root and fibrous roots are cut off and planted separately.

In the field, seedlings do not need to be transplanted. When the seedlings are too dense, they can be allowed to grow after thinning once, and apply fertilizer 1-2 times a month. Young seedlings are afraid of frost. In the first winter of the year, the seedlings should be watered and covered with grass to prevent frost. After planting the cuttings, the seedlings should be shaded and sprayed with water. A thin layer of fertilizer can be applied half a month after the seedlings have grown, and then the soil should be cultivated and weeded frequently.
